I've gotta say, I'm a fan of Joaquin Phoenix and Johnny Cash, so I've been looking forward to this film for a good long while. A little too much I guess, because I was disappointed. For me, it ran a little long. It was good. The acting was solid. Joaquin Phoenix IS the movie. He carries it completely. Reese Witherspoon is cute as hell, and plays a good June Carter, but this is Joaquin Phoenixs film. He does a great Johnny Cash, and when I found out he (and she) did all his own singing, its even more impressive. He even has the mannerisms down, the jolt your head back that Cash did all the time. The supporting roles I was generally impressed with. Buddy Holly was good, Jerry Lee Lewis was outstanding. Schmuck, lol. I really wasnt impressed with Tyler Hilton for Elvis. He really did have it. If you have any respect or admiration for Cash, its a good enough film. It isnt about his legacy as much as it is about his relationship with June Carter. Joaquin Phoenix deserves the Oscar Buzz hes been getting..
