Incredible cinematography is completely eclipsed by an insanely amazing performance by the lead child actor. The movie is almost worth watching just for its stark portrayal of post-Glasnost (post-Communist) modern Russia. I loved how the entire movie you're left guessing if it's going to end well or not well. You really have no idea as you're constantly slammed with the sad mood of the film. Modern Russian society's poverty is depicted with stunning realism. The Italian is tough to watch at times, but then so is life, right? The movie will still leave you moved in many ways. Most definitely worth a rental although it may be tough to find.
