With all that hype about this one. Well let me tell you was I ever disappointed. Was very annoyed with Amanda's character.

It was a good movie but could have been more interesting.

'Dear John' is Romeo and Juliet without the tragic outcome and the family feud, a beautiful filmed piece where two worlds which seem to collide are at the same heart beat. The family drama immersed in the film does not detract from the main theme but reinforces it. It is all connected. A film with more soul and heart than bullets in a Battle Field. Amanda Seyfried shined better here that her other movies, her humanity and her expressive power carry the relationship to an unexpected end. The rest of the characters fit well into the story line complementing it as a whole.

I was expecting this movie to be cheesy and predictable... and it was... and I usually love those kind of chick flick movies! I didn't really love this one... unfortunately I thought this movie was slow and didn't evoke many emotions. It could of been done so much better! I would rent it but don't hold your breath for a great romance.

I thought it was great... disappointing ending but it still implies that there was a happy ending so that is good enough for me!

I really enjoyed this movie, I had not read the book though and was a little disappointed with the ending. Still worth seeing though, it will keep you guessing - even if you have read the book lol!

This was a very good, powerful movie. It was real, and while I was expecting predictable it was certainly not that. It showed how life really is. Amanda and Channing, actually all the cast, were great. I would've liked fewer loose ends but these were great topics to discuss afterwards over beverages. If you're an emotional type take extra tissue, it'll come in handy.

Dear John is an excellent movie. Slightly predictable at times, but an overall heartwarming tale. A typical love story with a few twists, I however loved it!

I already expected this to be your typical chick flick but I actually ended up really enjoying it. It was definitely a tear jerker. Ladies: don't torture your boyfriends and make them go see this. They will throw up.

I had high expectations after watching the trailer for a romantic movie like The Notebook. Unfortunately I was very disappointed. The first half hour was pretty good but the storyline just got stupid. The acting by Channing Tatum and Amanda Seyfried was horrible, however Richard Jenkins did very well in his role. I admit I did cry during the movie (like everyone else) but I still left the theatre pissed off at the direction the story line went - the characters that were built up at the beginning fell apart to be doing things not representative to their characters (you'd understand if you see it) Sorry guys, it had potential.

I loved the notebook and was not impressed with this movie at all. The characters totally lacked emotional intelligence.

No character development and too many unfinished storyline starters that never eloped into anything else.

AMAZING MOVIE!!! A really touching and meaningful storyline backed up by great acting from Amanda Seyfried and Channing Tatum. An emotional story that shows what people must settle for, and what others must fight for.

This movie sucked... I was so excited to see it... And I ended up very desapointed. It's not worth the time and the money, don't go.

Channing Tatum & Amanda Seyfried are both very talented actors. However storyline was too "Notebook-ish" this is a rental.

This is the most heart wrenching story I have EVER seen! Made me cry the whole duration of the film, but only because the movie dragged me into it and made everything seem so real. It was an AMAZING film. Officially my all time favorite! :)

I read the book. It was GREAT. But I didn't enjoy the movie not near as much. They changed and removed a lot of parts. It made me angry. I still liked though.

I loved Dear John specially because it remains me of my favorite movie "The Notebook". Its everything you want in a romatic movie. The intensity of the movie catches your attention. Love, passion, heartbreak, and most dramatic of all, John loses his love because he goes off to war, the only love he ever had because he had been troubled before in his life. Nicholas Sparks is truly a great author. I enjoyed this movie very much. And I love watching movies lol. If I saved the money I spent each week watching movies, I would have a lot more money than I do now.

What a bad movie... my gf made me go watch it with her and wow was this awful. And even she agreed with me and she's usually a total sap when it comes to this kinda of movies. The acting was horrible and the storyline was so stupid. I can't believe I wasted money and time to watch this. Do yourself a favor and don't go.

I read the book, and it was better than the movie. The movie was a let down, very slow moving and uneventful. I would recommend renting it (cheaper), or better still, read the book if you're a Nicholas Sparks fan. Even so, it's not one of his better reads, the book is even slow moving during the first half or so.

Honestly, they could've done so much more with the story.. compared to the book, it was a let down. The movie was cheesy and included all of the commercial scenes within the first 15 minutes. They rushed everything and tried too hard to make it a ' happy ending '

It was sappy from the moment it began until the moment it ended. The crying row of teenaged girls behind us said it all.
