Awful!. It's hard not to compare with the original... I tried but they keep trying to remind you. There is no replacing Arnold for this role. Kate was not believable as the wife, but very good as the villain. None of the others were doing any serious acting, which made it difficult to get into this movie. It felt like they were just reading their script in behind the camera. Jessica Biel was severely miscast. The special effects were OK, but the robots very ineffective. A lot of the material is changed, which is fine, but the parts that are similar are a lot worse, real bad. Give this one a miss.

If you're expecting something akin to the original Arnold Schwarzenegger one, you will be SADLY disappointed. This one falls just shy of being a complete stinker. It wasn't the actors fault. They held up their end, but they relied too much on the eye candy factor of the girls and CGI (which didn't hold a candle to the original) The script and plot fell Waaayyy short. I actually couldn't wait for this movie to end as I was dozing off a few times. If you're going to do a remake of a cult classic, get your Shi? Together first. I'm glad I rented it!!

This wasn't the best Schwarzenegger remake. It wasn't that good at all, to tell the truth.

I never pass up an opportunity to see Kate Beckensale in tight clothing. That being said, the movie is a worthy attempt at a tribute to the original but falls well short of the mark of supplanting it. I enjoyed it but kept waiting for them to take it to the next level, which unfortunately never happens. There just weren't enough mutants and the character development just wasn't quite right. It's action-packed and fun to watch. Pleasing to the eye and technologically savvy in its portrayal of the future, but somewhat shallow and lifeless. Entertaining but could have been much better.

Definitely not a better version then Arnold only difference is the modern tech. That's about it as I found it a bit draggy.

More entertaining than the 1990s version. Full of action, and wonderfully imagined and executed chase scene on a highway.

Boy I wish I could recall my memory when I decided to see this flick. Not in the same league as the 80's. The old one had a storyline, cool effect, good dose of action and some one liners wich was the norm at that thime. The newer version is all action wich is not bad if you do enjoy action layer with action and add more action with little storyline. If Action is what you crave without stressing on the storyline then this is right up your alley. For me, should have put a failsafe memory warning me not to go see it and save sometime and money. Not a good memory to visit!

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.]
For a movie that was nothing but one long chase scene, I found it boring. It looks okay and the actors are okay but it's missing something. I guess if you haven't seen the original this may be half decent fun but for me, I kept thinking this isn't real and I never got drawn into it like I did in the first one. Thought the idea of the two countries and the transportation method between them was pretty stupid.

If you go in to this movie expecting a reincarnation of the old Arnie flick you will find yourself disappointed... I am glad I didn't skip this one though because I actually did really enjoy all the action and mystique this movie had to offer, there were a few flaws in the story and some of the events were pretty farfetched even for being a sci-fi. I really enjoyed the portrayal of the futuristic society and the whole idea of "the fall." The actors played their roles well but didn't seem to play to well with each other, mixed feelings about the whole chemistry, but overall I think you should check it out.

It was fun to watch, and that's coming from someone who's not into action. Not much of a story line but enough to keep paying attention. I really did enjoy it!!

Some movies are labelled as "non-stop" action, but this is the first time I really felt like a movie was NON-STOP ACTION. The special effects were quite good and the futuristic elements from the city structure to the robot cops to the magnetic-rail hover cars were designed well and believable. Colin Farrel and Jessical Biel were ok and I'm not a huge Brian Cranston fan in serious roles, I feel like he does better in comedy. To me, the star of this movie was Kate Beckinsale. She was just vicious and lethal, she had that killer attitude that made her a real threat throughout the film. I don't think this movie could ever top the original, but the new Total Recall still an entertaining action ride.

My g/f and I both enjoyed this movie, it was quite entertaining. Colin Farrell was very good and I thought it did a good job of distancing itself from the original which never took itself seriously. Won't win any Oscars but the effects need to be seen on the big screen for sure.

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie rom top to bottom. This was a good action flick. I didn't miss Arnold S. in the movie, rather I preferred the newer version, which gave equal depth to its characters. This for me was one of the top movies for 2012, after the obvious favorites like Avengers and Batman, and a few others. So give it a try, if you can get past Arnold not being in it.

This is a copy of a mix of two amazing old movies : the original Total Recall and the movie Blade Runner (1982) I just watch Blade Runner the next day, and was stunned : same exact setting, same decor, same raining days, same buildings and same space ships. Those producers created a movie by copying two amazing productions. This is very deceiving. If you want to see a movie where the main characters are RUNNING FOR TWO HOURS STRAIGHT (lol) you will enjoy. Poor adaptation of the original.

I enjoyed the action and the suspense. Non stop. Went through a big bag of popcorn and then some. I have no idea what people expect to entertain them these days. I enjoy the old black and white where the actors made the movie and I enjoy the action stuff. As far as talented actors who engaged you there are a limited amount now. John Wayne, Humphrey Bogart, James Stewart, Liza Minnelli and a host of others were great to watch. I wish they would dedicate one screen in the multi movie theaters to the old movies to give the new viewing audiences the pleasure of watching genius at work.

Actually I thought this movie was better than the original. Good plot line, more believable toys.

I thought this was a pretty good movie. Not exactly like the original but some scenes that were definitely there. I am not crazy about Colin Farrell (except for In Bruges where he did a great job) but I thought he did a good job in this film. The technology vision is pretty cool and helps to support the film as well. All in all I would recommend it if you liked the Arnold version. I don't think you will be disappointed. I was pleasantly surprised.

Awesome special affects, but not enough character development. Except for Colin Farrell, every other actor there were just props. Alot of running, jumping and stuff blowing up, and oh yes a smattering of a story thrown in for effect.

It was hard not to come into this movie with certain expectations because of the original. So the positives are Kate B. and Jessica B. are very nice eye candy. The fight scenes were amazing! Well choreographed! Bryan C. seems to be at the height of his career but his character lacked... believability? No depth... Jessica B's character was weak. She definitely didn't do anything for the movie except to add some eye candy like I said. Kate's character was well done. Very believable and truly came off as a [...]! Colin F's character at first was lacking and at times during the movie seemed too insincere. Special effects were very nice. Very realistic. There was room in this movie for more. A little too cheesy but all in all... not bad... not great but ok.

Compared to Schwarzenegger's version... it's good movie. Not an actual remake of the original movie/ short story, but a better inspiration of it. Beckinsale was good.

I saw the original and to be honest, this is not any better, which doesn't say much. I found the story to be quite bland/campy. I did like Colin Ferrell and Bryan Cranston, however, the rest of the cast were very forgettable. There was no originality in the movie. There was alot of fighting, and definitely Colin Ferrell helped. There was a full theatre, yet no sounds (except the odd snore), that's how boring the movie was. I have to say, it should be renamed TOTAL BOREFEST.

It wasn't as horrible as everyone made it out to be... but the tedious action sequences, plot holes, and lack of humour took all the fun out of it.

This movie wasn't even as good as the corny original. The use of a few high profile actors didn't help either, it only made them look like 'B' grade actors. Even for a si-fi movie, the plot was ludicrous. This movie wouldn't have even made a good comic book item.
