Basically you can just read the 4 gospels in the bible and get the same idea about what the movie is about.

One must believe to get anything out of this movie. Brings to light what Christmas and life is really all about.

It was as if this movie was truely Spirit inspired, I sat and wept throughout the movie, thinking I was the only one I glanced out the corner of my eyes and the teenagers on either side were doing the same.

It's a waste of time and money, and not just because you know how it ends... This film is yet another example of Christmas season marketing; of tapping into the spirit of the season by tapping into patrons' wallets. Poor production values, poor sound, poor editing and amatureish acting spoil what could have been a lovely art pic. Suitable only as a 'seasonally appropriate spiritual fix' for the faithful.

This movie was very boring, and the sad comic relief provided by the three wise men was completely unnecessary. For Christians: why bother seeing this movie? You already know everything it's going to tell you anyway. For non-Christians: if you are that interested in learning about Christianity, I recommend that you read a book instead. This movie is not worth your money.
| 2/10 | relativeatbest@ - 9 reviews 6.1.2007 - age: 18-25 |
Very good character development of the biblical characters. The wise men were wonderfully good with both their comedy and their awe at the manger scene, and I will always see them in this light now. Wanted the story to continue!!!
| 9/10 | kirkpatrickdl@ - 3 reviews 5.1.2007 - age: 50+ |
Well done movie, especially considering the topic. It's not completely accurate to be sure (the wise men probably weren't there at the same time as the shepherds... and there could have been more than just three) However, it was incredibly well done with the facts that they did have. Like the 3 wise men being wise men, not kings. Or the fact that Mary was so Young. Also, it was good to show how this wasn't just a cakewalk for the couple. Great movie!

This movie was not my favorite because it was confusing and not very interesting to watch. It got boring very close to the beginning.
| 5/10 | meme_gosivinne_2@ - 3 reviews 3.1.2007 - age: 1-12 |
It was amazing! It just makes you think of how special Mary was when she had the chance to have this baby and now you have a better prespective of the nativity.

The movie was very, very good. I really enjoyed it and it'a reminder of what Christmas is really about!!

Simply wonderful. A must-see for the holidays; I can't wait to be able to purchase a copy so that it can become an annual part of family Advent. There is much here to love and respect, but above all, what I appreciated it was the success in treating both Joseph and Mary as both loving, scared and powerfully human. The sacrifices of each are only magnified as a result. For anyone at all interested in the "reason for the season," I'd wholeheartedly recommend this film.

A real insight into the trials and tribulations of Mary and Joseph in the context of Jewish Society at that time.

I would rate this movie 9.5/10 because it is a great movie... especially I think think it's great that someone made this movie that speaks about the birth of Jesus... and even though it might not of been the best movie of all times it's still great... and the acting was pretty good too and also the scenery was excellent too.

I thought the cheesiness would be funny- I was wrong. It was horrendous. I feel sorry for anyone who has to endure this piece of trash. I saw it on my birthday and it ruined my birthday.

Was an excellent movie to watch just before Christmas, and renew some of the fine details of that which happened so long ago.

A beautiful and inspiring movie. It will make you cry not only with the birth of Christ but also how Joseph took such loving care of Mary on their journey to Bethlehem with their unborn child. This movie shows us exactly what Christmas is really all about. Wonderfully done.
| 10/10 | goretti_samaha@ - first review 26.12.2006 - age: 26-35 |
The producers were so set on making a pretty Christmas card, and following Catholic traditions, that they could not be bothered with the Scriptures. They missed a tremendous opportunity to put the record strait, very disappointing. I wasted $4 and only saw some touching scenes, but no new insights into Gods in-exhaustible Holy Word.

Very good movie. Quite realistic. It's also very gripping, and even if you know the story of Jesus' birth, this movie makes you want to know what happens next. You should see when you have the chance! :D.

Nice to see a movie about real events and genuine people. This movie was a delight to see and a wonderful reminder of why we celebrate the birth of Christ. Script, setting and characters were very true to both the scriptual and historical accounts. Worth seeing more than once. Would be nice to see more movies of this calibre.

For myself and my daughter we found the movie entertaining from begining to end. We both thought the acting was well done and that the actors were believable and it was not done up in Hollywood style with all the glitter and such.

A wonderful movie, based on truth, enough humor to give a chuckle here and there, great music, fabulour landscapes and details. Take a friend for an outreach opportunity. I had an opportunity to explain the significance of Jesus to my grown son; an opportunity for planting seeds to those you take along with you.

Whatever people might say, this is still the beginning of the greatest story ever told and people who don't like it probably haven't checked out the reference of the basis of this story. It is what is. What did you expect, a different version? God Bless!

FANTASTIC! The best movie I have seen in a long time. Tasteful, accurate and very well acted and directed. It held the interest of myself and daughters -- eight and ten years old. It isn't preachy or fundamentalistic -- which the right wing conservatives won't like. Just an honest portrayl of Mary and Joseph's struggles in the birth of Our Lord. Yes there are a few Hollywood moments thrown in -- like the snake encounter while crossing the river -- but I maintain probably the best movie I've seen since "Passion of the Christ." I would also rate it right up there with "The Last Temptation of Christ." This movie is not a "Hallmark Moment" as some of the reviewers have claimed it to be. Children at or under the age of 12 should be accompanied by either a parent or grandparent despite the "G" rating.

A very well made movie. We enjoyed the storyline and the music was wonderful. The actors were totally believable and the scenery seemed very realistic. I would recommend this movie to anyone. The theater was packed out for the 6:55 Wednesday showing and people were clapping at the end of the show.

A realistic view of the Nativity. It gave an encouraging idea of Joseph's possible personality. It demonstrates the way God orchestrated all the evens leading up to Christ's birth.

Everyone knows the Nativity Story, believers and non-believers, but going to the movie itself was a special experience. There were several touching "aha" moments, some slow moments, some corny and some Hollywood moments. But overall, I would still recommend others to go see it. We hardly get clean non-violent, family movies that we can watch with our children these days without cringing because someone is mindlessly killing someone else or removing their clothes and jumping into bed with someone. This movie was beautiful to watch, simple, sweet and very memorable. Loved it.

I have trouble with certain people thinking that this should be an entertaining film to go see, then rating it poorly because they weren't "entertained". That would be like the rest of us hoping to be entertained by their own life story. (? ) For those who know and believe the story, it is a not perfect, but very well-done movie. What we know of Christmas, with lights, music and trees, gives way to rock, desert and hardship in a way that is very realistic to the times, as this movie follows Scripture quite closely. If you want to be "entertained", go see The Santa Claus 3. If you want to see the true story of the real meaning of Christmas, forgotten by many, you will be very pleased with this movie. Ps. Read the beginnings of Matthew and Luke in the Bible and you will see how close this movie follows the Word of God.
