You get your money's worth but I think Cronenberg's obsession with visual style totally kills the suspense in this movie. It also makes it less shocking. In other words, as we've seen many times since, if you make your special effects too abstract, the focus of the movie is totally in the wrong place. Still, the writing is awesome and the ideas behind this movie are incredible. Still totally worth seeing.
