I really liked this movie but there are several issues that keep it from being great. On the plus side, the acting is really fantastic. I think I have a man-crush on Ciarán Hinds since I absolutely love his performances in every movie he's in. Too bad he's not in this one more. The story is pretty good too. On the negative side, I don't know how comfortable I am with making fictional stories on the Holocaust. The Vogel character is obviously based on the infamous Josef Mengele. They even have Vogel coming from the same concentration camp at Birkenau. I originally had the same issue with Inglorious Basterds but that ended up being more of a "wouldn't it be fun if..." and I think gets away with it. Whereas this is HEAVY drama so it strikes me in bad taste a bit to write fictional stories about these real-life monsters. Maybe I'm off-base though. I know the movie is supposed to be more about the Israeli agents than the war criminal himself. Some great tense sequences though.
