It was a no nonsense kinda movie. Just a fun one to see. We thought it was pretty good.

Where should I start? Okay... why does the little brother have an Indian accent when he grew up in Canada? What is up with that? The Dad had the same exact role as he did in the Bend it Like Beckham movie... The same old themes are repeated, without anything new... been there, done that... Very disappointing! Wait till it comes out on TV...

Loved the film. Great acting - kinda wished there more scenes of the hockey players - the goalie and the dude from Josh were really funny, Vinay was cute, Camilla can't act a definite must see!

It was cute. It was also funny sometimes. I loved the cast, but thought they could have done more with the script. The people in it were good.

I love this movie. It was great!!! It was hilarious. Anybody that's interested in watching this movie should watch it... it's well worth it. I went with my bf, and we laughed throughout the entire movie. A must watch!

For want of a director. This movie, (though entirely predictable), had a decent script, good supporting characters and a refreshing look... but there was nobody at the helm to bring it all together, give it direction and keep it on track. The result was wooden acting from the main characters and an overall amateur feel to the entire project... which was too bad. This movie suffers from the number one problem of Canadian films; the lack of a good director.

If you went in without high expectations you would enjoy this movie. Good entertainment but storyline very predictable. Not ROFL material but cute. Needed more Russell Peters to make it funnier as jail scene was the only time I thought he was his funny self. Indians would enjoy it much more as cultural scenes compensated for lack of quality.

For us Bollywood fans, the resemblance to "Patiala House" was uncanny. Instead of cricket, the sport is hockey. Overall, Breakaway was enjoyable. Camilla Belle CAN NOT act, but she's nice to look at. I think us Indians will enjoy the movie more than others, since we can relate to the family dynamics. Russell Peters does well in the comedy scenes, but he was unconvincing in the one serious/emotional scene he had with his fiancee.

Love the movie. I would recommend it to anyone and I would definitely go back to see it. My kids also love it.

A little disappointing. It was enjoyable for the many cute references to Indian culture (and I say this as a non-Indian) but Camilla Belle simply cannot act. A little predictable as well, but fun all the same.

I was disappointed. Too much Canadian Bollywood, not enough Russell Peters.

This movie is such a fail, it's corny, and full of horrible acting. It's the Indian version of the Mighty Ducks. I definitely don't recommend it.

A really fun Bollywood Canadian Hockey tale complete with wedding, romance, song, dance, and an elephant. I smiled and laughed all the way through it. Great entertainment for the whole family.

Considering it's actually called Speedy Singhs everywhere else but where it was made. Akshay Kumar is the only reason I watched it.

I ended up really liking this movie! Loved the Toronto aspect and how you could easily point out streets, arenas, and landmarks :) Basically a male hockey version of "Bend it like Beckham". A fun movie for everyone!

I really enjoyed this movie, sure, lots of cliche but there were some funny moments and overall very entertaining! Lots of tongue-in-cheek references to cheesy Bollywood movies, like the musical Bollywood number on ice!

Wow! Two hours of my life I can never get back. Russell Peters cannot act. He couldn't even convincingly portray a person who had way too much to drink in one scene. This was embarrassing. Some folks in the theatre found parts of the movie amusing but for most of the part there were very few laughs to be had. This is the worst movie I've seen this year... period.

Here's a movie that tries to do everything and accomplishes very little. Very disappointing. A poor version of "Bend It Like Beckham".

Loved it - two movies in one! Both my immigrant grandfathers embraced hockey when they came to "The New Country", so I could relate to the sheer joy and exuberance as the boys played and grew as a team (did I forget to mention I'm a hockey player and love the game, too?) Rajveer's love interest is a sweetie, and it was great to finally see how those scenes from the commercials fitted into the film (she was indeed adorable in the wedding scene - the commercials didn't disappoint) The parallel plot theme of the family had some nice moments, too (i. e. it's not just a sports movie - it's got some cute moments off the ice as well) Russell Peters was indeed out of his depth trying to be an actor (he's not dynamic enough - it might help if he took acting lessons... but, of course, he's too good for that... just ask him...), but heck - everybody has to start somewhere, eh? We're not all as funny as Eddy Murphy or Steve Martin... in fact, the guest spots by Bollywood stars made Russell look like an ordinary working stiff (chuckle! - did I mention his acting performance was "wooden"... ? ) Go see "Breakaway", and enjoy yourself! THAT is what going to the movies is all about, not debating whether it was "realistic" enough - leave that for the Trekkies.

Some funny parts. Acting is poor. Love its portrayal of Canada/India and its inclusion of Toronto. Too much unbelievable material including shots of them playing hockey (w/o helmets) A so/so movie. Enjoy the show.

This is the first time that I've ever felt like walking out of a movie part way through. I wanted to like this movie because of the Canadian content, but it was so embarrassing that I would doubt it will show anywhere in the US. The acting was horrible - I'm a pretty passive girl and I feel like punching the lead actor, who couldn't stop tilting his head to the side and giving "dreamy eyes" every two seconds. Russell Peters is a funny man - I have no idea how he is going to live this one down. My husband was appalled by this film as well, neither of us laughed once during this so-called comedy.

What a boring story, been done before, the hockey is lame. There were a lot of laughs coming from the audience, but I didn’t think the comedy was funny at all, and Russell Peters is not a good actor, should stick with stand up comedy. This hockey team had only 10 players, they would have to be in incredible shape to make it through one game, never mind a whole season. Good thing they never suffered any injuries, which is hard to believe considering they don’t even wear helmets. The rest of the movie has similar problems, it’s not believable. Rob Lowe was a bad choice, they needed someone with at least a pulse. I can’t recommend this movie.

Ummm... yeah. If you've had to see the stupid trailer, you can pretty much fill it in with cliches and scenes from "BEND IT LIKE BECKHAM". That's the movie.

Good movie. Made me laugh. Russell Peters was himself. Pretty predictable storyline but overall a pretty good movie.

OMG, I loved this! I went to the premiere last week with low expectations and it turned out to be one of the best films I've seen this year. Russel Peters is hilarious, my friends and I couldn't stop laughing! If you want a good time with a fun film that will make you laugh and put your mind at ease, definitely check out this film. It's worth it!

This beautifully crafted film that has a great mix of comedy, hockey & romance. The universal son / father struggle is something I related to as a son but also as a father now. A touching cross cultural assimilation story w the Indo-Canadian culture accurately portrayed. I brought my 12 year old son & we both enjoyed it immensely. Go see this movie!!

One of the best movies I've ever seen. It portrayed true south-asian conflicts with mainstream canada in a light and comedic fashion. Great music too!
