Other than Gedlund's singing, I didn't enjoy this film very much. Overall, I found it to be rather disturbing, and for a few reasons: firstly, it was really upsetting to watch Paltrow's character deteriorate throughout the movie; to watch her throw herself at Gedlund and others in order to escape the pain of her addiction, was just repelling. Second, the film had a really shallow storyline, consisting mostly of vapid characters trying to cling desperately to the possibility of living famously and "strong." Ironically, I think the message of the movie might've been that the achievement of fame necessarily entails the destruction of the soul. That said, I did like Gedlund's vocals a great deal, and his character had more authenticity than the others (which isn't saying much since the rest of the cast, including McGraw, didn't contribute anything very memorable)
