[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.]
Two-Thumb Up for such a movie from Madonna! When she didn't let her vanity to rule over her limited intelligence, she could do amzing things. This movie is such a result: stylish, passionate and provocative! Though she still let her vanity to appear at the end (she sang a song when the credits go up), it is still a nice film to provocate, to love and to recommend! I have no compassion such a "love" of W/E (one of the reasons the Edward gave up the Throne was: W and E were Nazi sympathizers...), but I really feel to have a lot to say about the film. If you have loved, have been loved or are ready to love (or lost love or were hurt by love...), I recommend you to see this movie. It is such a bourgeois movie to get our attention and affection! Oh, the music scores are impressive! Madonna, what is your next less-Madonna movie?

This movie was excellent, loved it. The connection was really well made between the past and the present. Incredible costumes, great music and very beautiful story. Madonna and Alek Keshishian did a great job writing the story. Madonna great as a director. The actors, lots of talent; Abbie Cornish and Andrea Riseborough oscar calibre performances. Would watch it again.

Great movie! Very Impressive! Very good acting, wonderful acting and excellent decors! My only criticisms would be that there were a few historical inaccuracies: 1) King Edward VIII did not succeed King George III (who died in 1820), he succeeded King George V in 1936.2) King Edward VIII is described as "... the newly crowned King...", but he was never crowned. 3) The epilogue incorrectly states that the only time the Duchess of Windsor was ever invited to attend an official public ceremony with other members of the royal family was for the funeral of the Duke of Windsor in 1972. In fact, the Duke and Duchess joined the Royal Family in London in 1967 for the unveiling of a plaque by Elizabeth II to commemorate the centenary of Queen Mary's birth. It's unfortunate that with a film budget of £18 million ($36 million USD), more time wasn't spent on a research...

Excellent acting, costumes, music. I like Madonna and am pleased to see her move into a new area of art. While this movie has a lot of redeeming value the excessive use of the 'close-up' that we see in this film is not a style of movie-making that I much enjoy. So in my opinion while this movie is good, it could have been much better.

This movie is very well done, the ambiance, the story, the costumes, impeccable. The actress is beautiful, I can't believe Madonna is the director of this movie. It was simply great! 100% a Masterpiece.

I don't know why the critics put it down so much (only because Madonna was the director I assume) Beautifully shot and acted, a fine work of art. There should have been some nods for the acting, but who cares I loved it!

I personally like the movie. Both Wallis' acting was good. Period costume was fantastic. Made me think about a different perspective. I would recommend. Forget it's a Madonna movie and go with an open mind.

I went without any expectation and not aware it was by Madonna! I loved the movie and I thought it was beautifully shot. Well-deserved Oscar nomination for the costumes: it's very stylish and beautiful. The love story between Wallis and Edwards is quite touching. And true!

I'm with you. There is almost no gratuitous violence in this beautiful interesting film. A bit of history and a great love story all around, then and now. Great scenery if your in to New York. Loved it!

Gratuitous violence? Wow. There was almost no violence, and none of it was gratuitous. I guess it's okay to have men's war, crime, cops movies but to portray violence against women while condemning the reality is gratuitous. Go figure. In any event, the prejudice against Madonna directing it is clear from every review warbling on about how it's a "women's film" which makes clear the idea that women shouldn't be directing cinema. Yes, it was a "women's film"- as in a film about human beings, by a human being. The history centred on a woman's story and on women's experiences. The two women playing the main roles were spectacular- I was surprised at the calibre of acting and that it is barely mentioned in reviews in the so-called arts magazines. The film was also magnificently beautiful from an aesthetic perspective, a stunning work of art. It was not perfect- I found the time shifting a bit confusing at first until it hit its stride, and I found the ending a bit drawn out and unconvincing. But overall it was an intriguing, gorgeous story about the side of history usually left out of the telling. Bravo.

I saw it yesterday and I was really impressed. I usually hate this kind of English Royalty kind of subject matter, and I was skeptical of the whole "modern fictional love story"/ "historical drama" dual treatment going in. But I thoroughly, genuinely enjoyed this movie. The directorial style has a definitie David Fincher influence, the acting was top-notch and the story was engaging and interesting. The parallel stories were presented in a very clever "Sliding Doors" kind of style. I think it's unfortunate that massive prejudice is probably going to limit the film's audience. I highly recommend it.

I was pleasantly surprised by this film! I was skeptical due to it being a Madonna related film. However, it is very stylish and well done. The acting is amazing and is a very good love story. We do not see good love stories ofter but this one is a true love story.

I'm impressed. Don't listen to the critics, see this film. I was never conscious of Madonna's aura in the film - it is a story about love (not, mind you, a love story...) It was stunning. I was quite taken aback, the cast and director show considerable talent. The themes were moving, the weaving of timelines rather unique and effective, and the cinematography, score, and period costuming was incredible. The performances? OUTSTANDING. See this film. It is a considerable achievement for a new film maker who wrote, produced, and directed this masterpiece.
