Unpleasant, dark and real. A very worthwhile commentary about racial tolerance and intolerance, the changes and choices the characters have to make in life are profound and fascinating. Though it's uber-violent at times, I would honestly say this is very educational material for children entering their teen worlds, and worthwhile for those who care about the subject. This movie would fall in a category that despite the hundreds I've watched and loved over the years, would be in a very small group that I'd describe as truly powerful. Norton and Furlong are amazing as is the directing and every aspect of this movie.
