This little gem about two sets of parents butting heads is sure to please fans of the theater, or fans of fine acting for that matter. For there is an abundance of cinematic chutzpah on display here from a quartet of truly talented actors. What's most surprising however is that it is Christoph Waltz and John C Riley that steal the show from top billed actresses Jodie Foster and Kate Winslet. Waltz in particular is excellent, proving his scene stealing turn in Inglorious Basterds was no fluke. Director Roman Polanski's film is not for everyone, but it is a fast moving, biting and revealing satire about how kids are like their parents and vice versa.

Umm honestly I felt like the movie wasn't going anywhere! It was sooo boring. Don't watch it.

Didn't work for me and did not work as a movie! Got some chuckles but as mentioned earlier did tend to get annoying as it went on. Had potential to be quite the lil quirky comedy but fell short. Foster=annoying! Hey, at least the hamster made it out unscathed.

Fantastic - this amazing dark comedy is excellent work from Polanski. The movie revolves around the theme of parental differences, a polite conversation that quickly becomes a competitive verbal warfare examining human condition, all taking place in one living room.

Plot had the potential for something big, but actually stayed very simplistic. Characters are predictable stereotypes, which we all know. Foster embarrassingly overplays here role.

A really good and funny movie. The actors are amazing and the awkward atmosphere is perfect for the movie. Roman Polanski did a great job at the direction and the co-writing with "God of Carnage" writer Yasmina Reza.

Went to see this movie with my husband and daughter. We All enjoyed ourselves. The script was witty and the acting great. All three of us could identify with at least one characteristic of the characters in the movie. Made us laugh at how all of us can be dug in to our beliefs. The only thing we regretted is that it was so short!

Very much a play on the big screen, so first you need to be ok with that format. If you are, the acting is obviously first rate. Pretty hard to go wrong with that cast. If you like movies that are philosophical human studies, this is up your alley. Personally, I thought it was intelligently and cleverly written, I was never bored, and even brought to hearty laughter on a few occasions. Particularly enjoyed the lawyer's perspective and that's the most interesting aspect of this movie, that everyone will likely see themselves or their views in parts of each of these characters.

I think a lot of people will be upset when seeing this movie, because it's basically a play that takes place in one of the couple's living room. They don't leave the living room for the whole movie. It doesn't really make sense that they keep on attempting to leave but returning. Besides that the actors are fabulous, especially Jodie Foster and the male actors. If it was a play I'd give it a 10, but as a movie it's a 5.

What happens when adults break down and all social norms go out the window? "Carnage" reveals the feelings we normally never act upon. Great acting, superbly written dialogue.

Nothing will ever beat "Who's afraid of Virginia Wolf" but "Carnage" got close. Excellent dialog, acting, scenography. I felt like being with them in that room.

What an incredible movie. All four players were fantastic, especially Foster and Winslet. Watch the breakdown of social law. The film has a live theatre feel to it that I really enjoyed. I was really disappointed that it ended; I was left wanting more of the characters, and their stellar dialogue. Truly a treat to watch. I'm thinking about sticking around and sneaking in for an encore.

I like all these actors very much - Winslet is especially watchable - but ultimately the whole thing just got annoying. Yeah, it's social commentary, comedy of manners, political correctness run amok etc. etc. but it was ploddingly obvious what the next line was going to be. The characters were all too deeply angry under the social veneer for this to have any real funny moments. Eventually it became predictable and I just wanted these turkeys to wrap it up. I kept hoping that at the end the two boys might be brought in to apologize to each other and wind up making no big deal of things, thereby exposing their parents' pretensions and absurdities. The pan shot at the end (merciful relief from the one-set endless debate that preceeded it) basically said as much but by that time who cares.

Very well played by the four actors. Each one has its moments and prepares the scene for the next one. It might be funny to see people being deconstructed but it is somehow predictable.

Misanthropy vs civilisation. Roman Polanski’s incursion in Woody Allen’s territory, with a biting edge. I haven’t seen a comedy from Polanski since the The Fearless Vampire Killers (1967), which also was biting, obviously. The actors are at their best. Jodie Foster does not simply possess her role, but seems possessed by it. She expresses herself with every pore of her skin. Kate Winslet is simply hilarious. The facial expressions of the former combined with the indigestion of the latter remind me of Regan in the Exorcist. It’s been a long time since I belly laughed as much in a movie theatre. The screenplay is taken from the stage play Le Dieu du carnage. Now, I can hardly wait to see it on stage. A comedy for adults not to be missed, but make sure your couple is secure beforehand.

This a great movie, I was waiting to watch it, after seeing the previews. Very funny, different and entertaining. The four main characters: Christopher Waltz, Jody Foster, Kate Winslet and John Rielly were amazing, lots of chemistry and great acting. I loved the story and the characters, very realistic.

Not bad overall with good direction and a strong cast. The dialogue was not as biting and funny as some the reviewers described it but it was entertaining nonetheless. Kate Winslet shines.

I can't think of anything that was weak about this film. The direction and acting are superb, and the script is amazing. It is one of the funiest movies I have seen in a long time. All the actors are wonderful... especially Jody Foster. It's fun, with power.

I enjoyed this, due in large part to the wonderful cast - Jodie Foster in particular; I do hope she snags an Oscar nomination for this role. Very entertaining, sly and funny. By the way, I'm getting a little weary of reading the reviews of professional critics who start out by saying," Well, I saw the original stage play, and..." Well, most of us haven't, and these reviews are not helpful to either the film or the audience. The film should be reviewed on its own merits, and I think it stands up quite nicely.

Very adult, wonderfully written play. It's somewhat as 'Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolfe' was for that era. Don't go if you're looking for action or weighty resolutions, but if you enjoy a commentary on our societal norms and values, you'll love it. Great acting, by all four protagonists.

I think reviewers are not articulating what this movie is about. It is not a movie, it is a stage play. If you go to it expecting a big hollywood production you will be disappointed. But if you are interested in a stage play and good acting then you will like it a lot.

A bit of a rip-off from 'Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf', which was a masterpiece in its time. This movie has a very good cast but I felt it was too staged at times. I love the message, I love the 'idea' of two sets of parents coming apart at the seams over 'one issue'. Roman Polanski is a good director and the verbage is nicely written- just thought it got a bit over-board to ridiculous at times. Entertaining, still entertaining. Christopher Waltz was especially good.
