Yet another Michael Crichton novel that was clearly written with a movie in mind needlessly butchered by Hollywood hack writers. We are left here with the bare skeleton of what made the book good and what would have easily been translated into a movie script. Many of the best action scenes were ignored and the whole concept of time travel was changed into something dull and inexplicably absurd. Nevertheless, what we have is a fun movie with some good actors (Billy Connolly, David Thewlis, NOT Paul Walker) and a good sense of the time in which it takes place. After a while, you begin to feel like you are in the 1300s. Unfortunately, it IS rated G and the near constant violence, sword-swinging action and relentless chases are not as effective, only using maybe an entire packet of fake blood for the whole movie... if you're lucky. It could be worth seeing, if you don't mind dumbing yourself down a little bit. This is not an intelligent time travel story. This is no Back To The Future; it's closer to Black Knight.
