You don't have to be a BIG football fan to like this movie. Actually this movie is more about good parenting and less about football. The father figure role is played well by The Rock. Some parts could have been cut out to shorten it down from the 2 hour mark. It was sort of like 'Varsity Blues' meets 'Boyz in da Hood'.
