Typical Canadian literary flaw- forced metaphors and a complete lack of logic. Debt is not the same as Albanian resentment, there is no overarching moral flaw to hang this analysis on.

Really enjoyed the film and its multi-sided approach to debt. Rather than limit the discussion to monetary debt, the film, following Atwood's book, thinks through other varieties of debt. In so doing we are forced to see connections between these seemingly disparate forms. We may end up concluding that a "blood debt" in Albania is comparable to the BP oil spill to a prison sentence and so forth. Indeed, I only wish the documentary made the point more strongly: our "rational" capitalist way of configuring debt conceals violence, superstition, power, and bizarre tradition. Well worth seeing.

Beautifully shot. Slow moving and a lot of unrealized potential in getting a point across. Bringing it together could have been more clear.

I liked Karen Armstrong, Margaret Atwood, Conrad Black on the screen. The subject was dealt in a discontinuous way perhaps it has too much of a scope and history to be covered in one movie.

While the subject could have been interesting, this presentation wasn't worth a plug nickel and I've never seen a documentary put together this poorly!

An interesting subject for sure. Nice scenes with Atwood and her thoughts but far too fragmented to be enjoyable. More of an exercise in thought with maybe 6 min of dialogue for every 10 min of film. I recommend waiting for DVD.

A noble effort, given he pretence but as a whole, badly structured. All over the place.

Interesting documentary about debt, how it influences relationships, our society, governments and mostly our planet. It's horrifying to know that still slavery exists on the tomato fields of southern Florida. A good documentary worth seeing.

Slow-moving. Makes you think. If you sit there wondering why you are looking at a slow-motion panning of the Albanian mountains or an abandoned penitentiary (think "penitence"), that is what the movie is about. You have to think, and then re-think about debt and how to pay it back, especially when it is not about money. This movie offers insight into our human nature and focuses us on the current problems of our modern society, lost souls and destruction of the earth.
