I found this movie great to show around the world. I feel there is a big relation between humans if all them are looking for right. Thanks.

This movie was like watching a classic 40' s film. Kind of a old yeller but way better. It is not for immature narrow minded people. There is a lot of heart and soul in this film and the message of how war tears people to the fabric of existance and turns us into savage animals. This movie was a masterpiece :)

A decent feel good movie that you can watch with your family. The war scenes weren't that bad so kids should be able to handle it. The story is pretty basic and you can guess how it will all play out. The scenery looks great, almost to the point of looking fake.

Hello, this movie is the best my husband and I have ever seen and we have seen alot. If we were to rate it, it would be a 20+. We were sad, happy and we cried for the men in it and the horse. Whoever trained this horse must have the patience of Jove and the love of animals as I do and the horse has to be very smart. What a wonderful movie. Our hats are off to the movie and the people in it and the people who put it together like this. Thanks from the bottom of our hearts.

This movie is incredible. It had me in tears so many times but had me feel like throwing my drinking and stomping out of the theater at times. This is a good thing. If you haven't already, watch it. It's amazing!

It's just a beautiful story and the movie in itself is superb, I think it should've won for best picture in the Academy Awards! Joey the horse should have won an Academy Award, who trained the horse did a wonderful job, just magnificent one!

I loved this movie. It's lovely to view, some of the most beautiful scenes I have ever seen in a movie... breathtaking at times. It's heart warming, a lot of history here... IMO this movie should have won Best Picture.

For those who didn't like the movie, yes it is 'just' about a horse. But what did you expect? It's called warhorse and the horse is the main character of the story. The story may be a little slow to start, and too cliched but that's not what you should look at. It's the emotions that the story wakes up in our hearts. The movie tells us what a horse with exceptional talent is going through WWI. It also shows what different people, whether it's farmers, warriors, or different aged people of different nationality, are living through. Yes I agree, it is a predictable movie so you may find it boring but you shouldn't just watch this movie thinking about the storyline but also about the message it brings and its historical content. I believe it's a very deep movie, that makes us thinking, and it's very touching (yes I cried) also, the images shown are beautiful and the horses are really well trained. We can see all the emotions in their eyes and actions.

Went to see this movie largely based on mistaken thought it was based on a true story. I was wrong it is based on a children's novel and a stage production. Set just before and during WWI. This film shines with some stunning cinematography and well staged battle scenes. Oddly though it also suffers from poor cinematography and effects in peculiar places. Spielberg obviously meant to pull heart strings this movie, and while he overdoes it at times, overall I think it was a solid although largely predictable story. My actual rating is 6.5 out of 10.

It was OK! Dragged on in certain parts. If it wasn't for the cinematography this really would've bombed.

Seriously? I have never seen a more idiotic, trite piece of racist trash - and I watched all the Twilight movies. All Germans are named Gunter and Pieter, don't you know? Crummy acting (they mixed up the names of two characters for a whole scene) and over-dramatic panoramics just put icing on the whole debacle. The big gay horse romance was the best part of the movie, so do look forward to that. Basically, I say don't bother. It's a waste of money, time, and frustration.

This is a very engaging strong story, well acted, with a combination of beautiful scenery as well as the depressing scenes of war. The horse comes to life in a magical way, and reminds us how fragile life really is. I enjoyed this movie very much.

Alright I guess. No swearing, so that was good. The horse deserves an Oscar if they handed them out to animals. Didn't like the war scenes - too much for me. My husband loved this movie. He was the one with tears in his eyes, not me.

I have to admit the story is predictable but still it is a very touching story and the scenery, the acting and the cinematography were exquisite. A must see movie!

Set during the First World War Steven Spielberg’s 2011 drama film War Horse is centered on the experiences of a thorough breed horse named Joey, whom we follow from birth through his dramatic experiences on the western front during the war. Where he finds love and admiration from all of those who he encounters along the way. Throughout the film Joey manages to bring out the best in people and shows us that even in the face of war we are all still human and can find compassion. Spielberg’s film exhibits excellent cinematography and uses a wonderful combination of light and colour that brings the audience into each scene. This is especially true as he captures the simple beauty and the challenges of living in the English countryside and then the horror’s of trench warfare. Unfortunately, the storyline is somewhat weak in that it is nothing more than a recreation of those two animal hero classics Old Yeller (1957) and Lassie (1954 TV, 2005 film) wrapped in the genre of a war drama. Much like Lassie and Old Yeller Joey the horse remains by far the best actor in the film, as there were no memorable performances by mere humans. It is not that the human acting was bad just that the story is centered on Joey the horse and the humans simply play supporting roles. Throughout the film it is hard not to like Joey as he moves from one benefactor to another and brings to them a certain something that was missing in their lives. Joey does not really move in any particular direction, but rather takes on all challenges as they come. While portraying the distinctly human qualities that we all wished we had, but that only a horse could manage to pull off. In this film Spielberg has failed to provide the “WoW” factor that we have come to expect from him as a director. Such as the dramatic story lines of his previous films Munich (2005) and Schindler's List (1993) or the high-energy action sequences of the Indiana Jones trilogy and Saving Private Ryan (1998) Overall, I liked this film, but only to enough to enjoy on a rainy Sunday afternoon.

Very well done! Before going I wondered ‘how can a movie possible come across from the horse's perspective?’ But it did! I was pleasantly surprised, much better than I expected.

So cliche, so weakly wirtten- this is the second Spielberg film I saw this year (the other being Tin Tin) so it's not that I hate him but what a teaming pile.

I love this movie! I am a horseback rider and have been for many years and the horses that played Joey were very well trained and made the movie very realistic. The screenwriting was written very well and the directing was just perfect and the boy who played Albert was very good for his first movie. Don't miss this, it is fantastic! But don't forget to bring your tissue.

Horses are herd animals and it is totally realistic that one horse would save another... happens all the time in the wild. [...]

The cinematography captured the angst of man against man and man against nature in an effective yet ephemeral treatment of an otherwise visceral chapter in the human condition.

Love the action & connection man had to the horse. I understand that animals have feelings but I just thought it a little corney that the director would have the horse reason to try and save the other horse.

This movie could have been a block buster, but it isn't. The movie "looks" like a Norman Rockwell painting - the same tones, the same attention to 'correct' small details. Then, the story becomes a cross between Black Velvet and Lassie - a tortured, conflicted animal story that ends happily ever after. However, the acting of Neils Arestrup, who plays the role of the grandfather seeing this movie worthwhile. Neils was simply superb.

True love between a horse and its best friend a boy that became a man during the first world war. The movie shows young people how our soldiers bravely fought the Germans without the weapons we now have for wars. It also shows what love for an animal can do. A tear jerker with a happy ending!

There are good points but overall I was lukewarm on this one. It starts off slow and then midway through I could not help but compare this to a much better film... SPIRIT. I didn't really connect with the characters (other than the horses) so maybe that is why I did not give this a higher than 7 rating. I preferred SPIRIT.
