It was a good movie, but it left out sooo many things. All the details in the book could've been in the movie.

Hunger games is a pretty good movie, it may be a bit too fast paced, but is still a solid movie.

Did not expect it to be that good. It was worth while and certainly caught my attention.

Kept my attention from 1st to last minute and though I haven't read the book I rushed to a bookstore after the movie.

Still one of the best movies playing in theatres right now. Very intense and believable. Strong female lead a definite plus. It made me want to read the other novels.
| 9/10 | luvintherain@ - 2 reviews 12.6.2012 - age: 26-35 |
It is fantastic, I must admit, it is not as good as the books, but it is a wonderful movie all the same.

This movie was so interesting, even though the story line was so devastating and controlling, you left the movie feeling positive, knowing the main female character was going to make change for not only her district, but the others. I went and bought the books. It is a must see, and will I will buy the CD when it comes out.

Half way through the film I was going to give it an '8' rating or even a '9', but the ending was a bit weak for me. Kind of trailed off leaving some wimpy-ish loose ends. Maybe for a sequel? Well, I believe all threads in a film must be tied up. It's okay to pose questions which a sequel will deal with but a film must end well. However, still a fine movie. I'd recommend seeing it. Good cast. Well acted. I have not yet read the book so I was not influenced that way.

The Hunger Games is the best movie I have ever seen. When I saw it for the first time the movie was so awesome. I need to see The Hunger Games again before it comes out on DVD because the DVD takes for ever to come out. I can't stop watching the trailer. I can't wait till the next 2 movies come either.

Very intense. It has good dialogue... I enjoyed the intenseness.

I read the books way before they announced the movie. I loved them so much that I didn't really want to ruin them but this movie lived up to the first novel so well. I did not even budge throughout the whole thing and I can rarely sit still for that long.

If you are a scifi buff you should see it. If you're not, well you'll still like it. It's on a par with such films as Logan's Run or Lord of the Flies. It's thought provoking and that's saying something in todays generic and bland cinema. The heroin and hero are hot looking and well fed in a post apocalyptic world and Stanley Tucci's hair is a riot.
| 9/10 | bbhotstar@ - 6 reviews 6.6.2012 - age: 36-49 |
The female was very attractive and good actress but The "Running Man" was a much better movie with a similar but better story line, it had a much more sinister TV host who got what he deserved in his game.
| 3/10 | burnswj@ - 3 reviews 4.6.2012 - age: 50+ |
A really good movie, but not for anyone younger. It followed the book almost exactly.
| 9/10 | amsorangerocks@ - first review 4.6.2012 - age: 13-17 |
Can easily get lost in the movie. As if the audience was participating in the adventure. Seems like an eerily beautiful kind-of-movie to me.
| 8/10 | ngmahhum@ - 75 reviews 4.6.2012 - age: 50+ |
I loved how they conveyed the actual book into a movie. The only reason that it didn't get a 10 is because they made some of the training scenes correct. Other than that, The Hunger Games was and is a wonderful movie. Go see The Hunger Games today!
| 9/10 | epicness@ - first review 3.6.2012 |
The movie was an excellent display of the books!

At one point, I wanted someone to kill Catness just so that the movie would end. It. just. didn't. stop. The story was too drawn out and felt like it took forever to begin. Wait for dvd and rent it.
| 5/10 | freebj@ - 9 reviews 2.6.2012 - age: 36-49 |
To much marketing for this movie. Expected more, not as breath taking. Felt more like it was a fashion show than an adventure film. Film done with a much younger audience in mind.

I loved the book and I think that this movie captuered the true meaning of the hunger games! It was soo close to the book than any other movie I've seen that is based on a book.
| 9/10 | jessica.souannhaphanh@ - first review 1.6.2012 |
I think the movie was great. The storyline was one of the most unique storylines ive ever heard of. I recommed to ignore all the bad comments and see the movie.
| 9/10 | miguelgon@ - first review 1.6.2012 - age: 1-12 |
Not a very good movie. I won't even rent this when it comes out on Blu-Ray. Poor camera work, poor action sequencing, terrible acting, and all around bust. This movie let me down compared to all of the Hype.

Hunger games was a good movie and was pretty similar to the books, however there were several details that were left out of the movie (i. e. the avox, the prep team, etc.) some parts of the movie were a bit confusing if you hadn't read the books. All in all, the hunger games is worth seeing but definitely read the series first so it makes more sense.
| 7/10 | zlschuster1010@ - first review 31.5.2012 - age: 13-17 |
An excellent movie. But they could have done better. It was great but I would advice if you read the book first. Then go see it. Because if you didn't read the book then it wouldn't be that good. It was very thrilling edge of your seat!

This movie is amazing. I waited forever to see this movie and it loved it. It is so thrilling and has a great story line. You can almost feel their emotions. I think this movie is certainly one of my favorites. Every body should have a chance to see it.

Love it! It was just like the book in all the right ways! There is a little blood but kids 8 and up would like it and it would not be too violent.

Well, as you can imagine, a diehard fan like myself who read the book 5 times would love this movie (which I did. I saw it 7 times) People who hated the book (which I didn't know was possible) loved it also. It was honestly not only from a fan's perspective but overall it was the best movie I've ever seen. It was so good I cried at the sad scenes then 2 seconds later smiled at the happy ones. Easiest 10 I'll ever give.

On the advice of friends who had both read the novel and seen the movie, I read the book first, which turned out to be good advice. A post-apocalyptic dystopic North America, now divided into twelve "Districts" plus the Capitol. The Capitol controls everything, and once a year, two teenage "Tributes" are selected, one boy and one girl from each District, to take part in the Hunger Games, billed as entertainment, but actually punishment for a rebellion many years earlier. They are herded into a huge outdoor arena, and must remain there until only one is left alive. Everything is televised, and is the ultimate reality show. The novel is a first-person narrative told by Katniss Everdeen, the 16-year-old girl Tribute from District 12, located in what used to be Appalachia, but the movie is rare in actually being better than the novel, one reason for this being that it shows not only what Katniss is doing, but also what the monitors are doing to control the environment, including the weather and even dangerous genetically-modified plants and animals. Jennifer Lawrence is brilliant and utterly convincing as the natural and unaffected Katniss, who is utterly without guile. An exceptional movie.

I went to see this movie without reading the book but the movie was phenomenal. The movie made me read the books. I'm currently on the 3rd one now since the movie came out. Like any movie based on a Novel Series things were cut out but they did really an amazing job with the movie not to cut out a lot of things. GO SEE IT NAO.

I waited to see this movie because I wanted to read the book first. I thought the book was good, but it didn't blow me away. Never thought it was possible, but I think the movie was actually better than the book. It really made the story come alive (the book was a bit flat) and added scenes and background we didn't get to see in the book since it was all in first person.

The movie was alright, it did not compare to the book. Kind of hard to understand if you have not read the book.
| 6/10 | hasam@ - 3 reviews 24.5.2012 - age: 18-25 |
Having never read the books, I went to see this movie because of all the good reviews listed here. I found it entertaining enough and thought Jennifer Lawrence was especially great. I was not too keen on the shaky camera technique early in the movie and thought some of the pre-game story could have been cut shorter. Still, it was worth watching on the big screen.
| 7/10 | mwhal@ - 103 reviews 23.5.2012 - age: 36-49 |
I though it would be a movie like Twilight so I was not interested to read the book until I saw the movie! It's AMAZING and I read all 3 books and I keep on reading them it's an other perspective of the future and the fact that your watching the movie and people getting killed in a games is "okay" until you think about it, and Jennifer Lawrence was Stunning And Josh Hutcherson Awesome, I could talk about the movie for [...] hours, MUST SEE it's my new obsession!!!
