I disagree with the notion that a piece of art has to spoon feed us all the answers to whatever question the art poses. This is especially true when the art poses theological conundrums. It is in my mind, the ultimate in hubris for an artist to presume to dictate to us their theology by way of explaining a plot. Solaris is science fiction that dares to ask questions and leaves us to find our own answers. Most people will hate that. Personally, I think we need more art like this.
