I wish to announce my favorite part of my movie night to see this much debated about movie was - the Star Trek trailer - that movie looks like its going to kick butt... and most of the Star Wars movies- finally a super Trekkie moving coming up... Ok-Regarding the Bond movie- I read tons of reviews before seeing it, so I had low expectations for it. I realized that it was going to be one of these silly recent trends of 'half-movie' sequels that movie-makers have been cheezy enough to force on movie go-ers-ie, watch this sequel or you won't understand the third sequel- Like Pirates of the Caribbean, and Oceans 12. I think this Bond movie could've been compacted into 45 minutes to add onto Casino Royale. I'd rather abstain from voting - it was a hard movie to rate for me. Although I hated that much of the true Bond movie experience was omitted from this movie-ie, no 'Bond, James Bond', or constant clever witty dialogue, or gadgets, I think there was a good effort and being creative. However I found it boring that many favorite scenes from Casino were modified and reused in this movie. I find it equally stupid that the high action scenes like chases, and fighting were very quick and filmed jerkily; how do they figure the audience can appreciate such mashed up filming? It's like youtube clip home movie makers taking time to post their videos online, but the movie is 95% DARK/unlit-nothing can be seen-so why post it; this was the Bond director's logic apparently- film highly orchestrated action scenes but do it so the audience can't grasp what's going on! Pretty clueless. The plot was very weak. The violence was useless. Some scenes made absolutely no sense (ie, one character who was captured by 'one side' then escapes, later shows up enjoying himself in public as if he's no longer a very wanted person) It seems the full Bond movie experience (like 'Live and Let Die') maybe in danger of being lost if the movie makers lose sight of why Bond is unique - stick with the core Bond movie structure and don't get too creative- Casino Royale was a perfect mix of those things in my opinion. The movie wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but it shouldn't have been made as a tag-along movie-it pales to many former Bond movies... you don't leave the theater saying "I loved the part where this and that". It seemed everyone left the theater with an 'Oh well' half satisfied mood. Watch the movie but be prepared to have wished for a better effort. Good news is maybe you'll catch the new Star Trek movie trailer.
