I loved this movie. Definitely not a date film, my wife would have hated it. It contains some gory comic-book violence (which provide some laugh out loud scenes) The soundtrack works perfectly with the film. The story is mostly irrelevant, but it doesn't get in the way of the fun. Great entertainment for adolescent boys of all ages.

I'm normally not a fan of Nicolas Cage but I have to admit he did a great job in this movie. I was amused to see that some of the scenes were Kill Bill inspired.

The style and vision "Kick-Ass" delivers is the whole reason why I love movies, and got into movies in the first place. The combination and perfect execution of presenting different styles which entertains, the highly compelling storyline which intrigues, and the developing and contrasting of diverse characters which mesmerizes all seems to work. "Kick-Ass" has everything I wish every movie had, distinct originality.

The title speaks for itself. An awesome show you don't wanna miss. A strange yet intriguing movie.

Certainly not for kids but quite an entertaining action flick. Hit girl is the best character - funny role and well played. Lots of violence throughout although it's mostly over the top stuff similar to a Tarantino film. This movie spoofs several super hero movies along with teen romance yet has a style all its own.

This is epic go see right now (dont bring kids)!!!
| 10/10 | somethingrandom98@ - 4 reviews 12.4.2011 - age: 50+ |
Kids dream about, these fools try to make it happen. It started off more realistic and soon got to be more of a fantasy, then ended ridiculous. It was fun and felt like living out a childhood fantasy so I did enjoy it. Now there have been real life people trying to do similar stunts, which was expected to happen. It fealt like a unique story, I liked that.

Holy Sh#t, I can't believe it I thought I was going to watch something funny and stupid, it was not. This is definitely not for kids. Amazing entertainment. This is what this movie is meant for. Don't try to compare it to a Drama story or some Shakespeare interpretation. It's an amazingly entertaining movie.

First off, this is based on a graphic novel, so don't expect some cutesy film. This is the story of a boy who wonders why there are no superheros. I mean of all the fans out there, no one has tried it? The story gets a bit out of hand and drags a little at the end, but it is an original take and it starts off as being somewhat realistic and then turns into a mad action flick. Still, a decent film.

My head is still buzzing with scenes of the slaughter Hit Girl did in the end! AMAZING! I was very surprised to have actually really loved that movie. I was entertained all the way through. In the beginning, the movie has a Spiderman type of feeling, when a kid decides to become a superhero, sky is the limit, but his first fight quickly puts your feet back on the ground, hilarious! Many twists that were well orchestrated and plenty of action! The characters are lovable and well developed. Had a Kick ass good time!! (Yes, I make bad jokes :P )

I was pleasantly surprised to find that this movie had more to it than I expected. Chloe Moretz was a scene stealer and made the movie worth watching.

Kick-Ass, great action, Super hero Matrix style... very cool!
| 9/10 | cotepa40@ - first review 8.8.2010 - age: 36-49 |
This movie was not quite what I was expecting. Looks like from the reviews that it is either a love it or hate it movie. I thought the movie was brilliant, original and hilarious. Dark comedy though. My wife didn't like it at all, and we usually like the same movies. It looks like this movie marches to the beat of its own drum. But I can see it becoming a cult classic. I don't think they should make another one though.

Have you ever wondered why has nobody tried to become a superhero? Kick Ass is a Comedy/Action movie. This kid named David Lizewski talks about his invisibility, describing himself as a social zombie. He doesn’t care if he lives or dies. One day while he is eating with his friends at a comic book store he wonders why nobody he knows has ever tried to be a super hero before. He buys a super hero costume off EBay, and he goes out and tries to fight crime. He gets beat up by two guys trying to steal a car and ends up in the hospital, having broken bones and disabled nerve endings. And while he’s in the hospital, he goes through surgery to implant metal joints in his body. As a result, he feels no pain and can hit harder than the average person. Then, he decides to go back out to fight crime and protects a stranger who’s getting beaten up with a very different result this time. Bystanders end up taking video of this superhero, Kick Ass, and he becomes a YouTube phenomenon. While trying to impress a girl at school, he decides to fight some drug dealers, but the fight goes badly. And that’s when Hit Girl & Big Daddy come into the story line and they’re trying to fight this crime lord, Frank D’Amico. Hit Girl has been trained from a young age to fight Frank D’Amico, but if I tell you why…then, it would give out a massive spoiler!!! Chloe Grace Moretz as Hit Girl steals the show. She was such a great character and the actress that played her couldn’t have done a better job. You’re watching this brilliant movie and then everything goes onto Hit Girl; she’s basically the main character in the second half of the movie. The one thing I hated about the movie was that right at the ending they are going into their final battle and they bring out this weapon. And you don’t see what this weapon is, but they keep saying that it is the best weapon EVER. When it comes to the battle, Hit Girl just takes out most of the bad guys, and then Kick Ass shows up with this weapon and you are just like…WHY? The weapon was so STUPID that it almost ruins the movie. (And there, I didn’t give it away about the weapon, Christina!) As an interesting side note, film locations of city scenes included Young Street Toronto and the school scene was filmed in Hamilton. Nicholas Cage as Big Daddy does his best movie he has had in 10 years. He’s a super hero whose real name in Damon Macready. His comedy is so overdone that it ends up being hilarious. He says this lame line, “his name shouldn’t be Kick Ass it should be Ass Kick” It was so funny! You leave the theatre, and you feel like you’d like to watch it again. You’re thinking “this is the best movie EVER! ”

Not a great movie, not a really good movie, but it is highly entertaining. One of the good points about it is that Nick Cage doesn't ruin it ( as he usually does) Hit girl is a riot, with an "HG" belt buckle similar to Robin's "R" buckle. Lots of little subtle references to the Adam West batman. And the violence, lots of it, is so over the top that it's hilarious. Most of the other reviews that panned this movie obviously didn't get it!! It's a satire, a spoof, on both the comic book character and teenage romance movies, and again is not art, but entertaining.

Was expecting a lame teenage superhero movie but that's not what I got. One of the better superhero movies out there and surprisingly, one of the most violent. Normally I'm not that big a Nicholas Cage fan but he was unoffensive and fit in nicely. Enjoyable from start to finish.

It's rewarding to see non superhero struggle in fighting crime for Dave (Aaron Johnson) in his 1st two attempts. Until he meets HIT GIRL (Chloe Mortez) and BIG DADDY (Nicolas Cage) things get little more intriguing. The quest is justice and revenge @ all costs. $$$

The performance of Hit Girl by Chloe Moretz was quite impressive especially her interactions with Nick Cage and the fight scenes. Would like to see her cast as Bat Girl in the future.

If you like superhero movies and comic books, you will definitely enjoy this movie. My friends and I laughed throughout the whole movie with its quirky dialogue. Hitgirl is phenomenal and you have to admire what she does for a 13 year old. The other superheroes are perfectly cheesy is a hilarious way... just as they are supposed to be. See it. Enjoy it.

Don't underestimate the movie. I was surprised. It was really good! In the trailer, they only show... the "Walt Disney", cutey, teen kind of parts of the movie but BEWARE! This movie is more violent than you can imagine! Once the violence starts, it just gets better. Kind of like à la Tarantino movie! You should check it out!

I was suprised with this movie. Forget the fact that an 11 year old is kicking ass like Jason Bourne. For how unrealistic this movie was, it was believable! I enjoyed it and was shocked from the 1st superhero jump. Not for young people or people who don't like violence but for the rest of you, go for it and Kick ass!

I am not a fan of Nicholas Cage! On the other hand, this movie was a lot of fun to watch! I went in knowing little about it, and can honestly say I laughed, and was fully entertained all the way through. As others have mentioned, don't bring the kids to this one. There were a few parents walking out of the theatre feeling/looking a little uncomfortable with their young'uns asking questions...
| 9/10 | arvan09@ - 9 reviews 15.5.2010 |
Exactly what I have been waiting for... a superhero movie for grownups. Fan-boys will always complain that 'it's not exactly like the comic'. They should just be happy that it wasn't watered down into a PG movie for the kiddies and enjoy all the mayhem. Can't wait for Kick-Ass 2!

This is one of the worst movies that I have ever seen. It was such a waste of time. The story was quite interesting but the action and the comedy was just baddd! I don't understand why people enjoyed it and laughed at it so much. [...]

Certainly not for everybody, but an exciting and original parody (and as such its humor is more subtle) I'd be lying if I didn't admit finding Hit Girl a bit shocking and inappropriate,... but at the same time I found myself rooting for her and caring about the character. Very Tarentino-like. For mature minds, able to distinguish fiction from reality.

Was unsure whether to see this movie or wait for it to come out on video. After reading all the comments here I decided to go. Movie provided exactly what I expected, action, humour, violence, guns. I thought all the actors played there part well. Cage, always nice to see him doing small roles and he adds creditability to the movie. Chloe Moretz does an incredible job as Hit-Girl. Not an easy role for a 13 year old.

Went into this movie knowing nothing about it - I enjoy super hero/scifi so thought I might enjoy it and I did. I was quite surprised by some of it and still a bit disturbed by some of the language they had that little girl use - I guess it was for shock value as I don't think it needed to be quite so harsh... a 12 year old using the c word just seems wrong. Great acting by Aaron Johnson - we'll be seeing more of him. See the movie purely for entertainment value!
