Silly. Pointless. A fluff piece that should have gone straight to the family channel. It was not even about dancing really. It was like some random scenes were spliced together to make a movie. A lot of little kids laughed so maybe this movie was targeting the 10 and younger crowd.

VERY pleasantly surprised! The movie is essentially the same as the original, right down to the dialogue but they did a very good job at updating it to the present era and they kept everything that made the movie a classic.

Boring besides 3 dance episodes. All characters are flat and unconvincing in their actions and decisions. So boringly standard, predictable, and sometimes inappropriate.

Loved the original, and loved the remake. Was a lot of fun, we sang with the songs and danced in our seats!!

It's a brilliant movie. It's very professional acting and it has a great story line. It also has a really good message. It's definitely a must see!!

The movie was OK not more... It wasn't just the original such a classic, it really captures the essence of the 80's... I'm sure the new generation will enjoy this version but I'm heart stuck with the classic... But I have to give a shout out to these little girls singing the version of Let's hear it for the boys... so funny:)

This film doesn't have the magic of the original with Kevin Bacon. It does not make you want to tap your feet and that is the perfect litmus test for a good musical.

This was a thoroughly enjoyable movie which left us with an uplifted feeling and a sense of fun and youthfulness. The best scenes involve the heartwarming conversations between the adults and the teenagers, as well as the adorable scene of the best friend learning how to dance. I never like a single thing about the original and was hesitant to see this version, but the previews showed that it had depth, and so I took my 12 year old daughter to see it. We both liked it very much. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to see and entertaining and feel good type of movie.

It is an enjoyable movie. I would take the kids to see it. I felt like I was a kid again. Loved how there was still the great music of the 80's and with some new music too. This will never be as good as the original but keep in mind that it is a remake. It is worth seeing if you want to leave the theatre with a smile.

I never saw the original for this movie, but the remake was amazing. Everytime they were dancing, I couldn't help but smile and the music was super catchy. It was funnier than I thought it would be. I really loved this movie. Go see it now! :)

I said I wouldnt go see it and yet I did. It was bad. This movie captured almost none of the essence of the original. Furthermore, I don't remember seeing two more annoying leads in my life. In the original the leads were also on the annoying side, thus likely the casting, however, after a while you grew to like them. Not so in this movie. Ariel (aka Jennifer Anniston light) has the most annoying voice. Kenny Wormald may be a dancer but he aint no actor!! This was an empty shell of a movie; and yes that is taking into account that it is indeed a remake. None of the relationships are developed! Unnecessary!

Wow this is the best movie I've seen in a long long time!! It's very meaningful and entertaining at the same time, intertwining the original story line with today's pop culture. It has updated dance moves, cell phones and ipods. The final scene was the best, as in the original but all the dancing and music were absolutely wonderful!! I'm sure there will be a revival of all the great music in the original soundtrack and it's about time. The whole movie makes you walk out happy and singing Footloose. Bravo to the actors, writers and producers remaking what I'm sure will become another modern cult classic!

Not even close to the wonderful original flick which remains a classic to this day. Do yourself a favour and rent Footloose the original version.

I saw the original and remember coming out of the cinema humming and singing the song lyrics in the movie. This time, there wasn't much singing or dancing. It's certainly not a better remake of the original with Mr Kevin Bacon.

Great feel good movie, one of the best remakes I've seen. I bet Zack Efron is kicking himself in the butt right now for refusing this role!

Having loved the original I couldn't wait to see this remake, to see a fresh take on an already great movie. There were some great modernized dance scenes and a great soundtrack of old and new music. It was hard to buy the concept of dancing being against the law though in today's modern society. That premise could work in small town USA in the original but the times are so completely different now that I just couldn't take it seriously like I did the first time around. Good acting, great dancing, and overall a good movie. Could've been a little "hotter" for today's market.

I really enjoyed the movie, the music. Dennis Quaid and Kenny Wormald were great but I founded that Julianne Hough wasn't that great. She looked very good but her acting was just so so.

Ok folks get over it. It's a REMAKE. It's not pretending to be anything else. The script is basically the same as the original with some exceptions. One the relationship between the minister and his wife just doesn't have the same feeling and thus the change in the minister to allow the dance at the end is really a poor replica [of] the original. It's not a bad way to spend a saturday afternoon but hey didn't take any chances here. It's the same movie with a better looking female and new people singing the original songs. And of corse the original songs and movie are better.

You can't compare the original one with the remake, they are very similar, the old was a drama, the new one is much more modern and fun to watch. I took my 13 year old who has never seen the old one and he loved it.
