Likable characters and an interesting historical background make this a good movie.

It helps having a Scottish background! When is it available in Canada on DVD?

Nothing much wrong with this film. Little slow once in a while, but a lot of fun.

It's so inane and simplified it's practicly an insult...

Loved this movie. Entertaining from start to finish and some of the scenery was simply breath-taking. A great example of National Pride.

Here is a movie inspired by forces that would make even Plato a fan of drama. Although it is comic in tone, it nevertheless captures the romantic spirit, not only a Scottish spirit but a human spirit, that can leave an audience feeling good about the human race. At one point the Hamilton character says "The soul of a nation is carried in the spirit of its people," and I think the film well-portrayed, in that light, how the actions of a few can inspire the many, by reminding them of who they are and what they can accomplish if they maintain the innocence of fraternity and hope. As we are dragged through an era when Hamilton's words seem meaningless to the self-interested and self-enlightened, this film well-illustrates a moral turn toward a sense of self-as-member-of-something-larger-than-self, and how that turning can dissolve the nauseating ennui of selfhood that so many of us suffer from.

A bit slow paced but an entertaining and historic story, well told. Good acting by the principle characters and wonderful scenery and Abbey shots.

A tremendous light hearted charming movie with humour and some jaw dropping scenery woven throughout. Aptly portrays the sentiments of the Scots towards their oppressor to the south. Thoroughly enjoyable and highly recommended by this Scot.

Wonderfully cute. Similar to others such as waking ned divine, saving grace, greenfingers, ordinary decent criminals etc...

Great fun and decent suspense without the violence other movies seem to need these days to keep the audience engaged.

Loved it. You must see it. My Dad is from Glasgow and I've seen the stone of destiny back on Oct.'07. Really hits close to home and I'm a Canadian Inuk too!

I went to see this movie only because I saw all the rest. This one ranks as one of the best ones. The storyline is great, the acting superb. I was taken back by the beauty of the landscape. It's a sleeper movie in the terms that it has not the publicity machine of the bigger movies but it's a winner to me and if you go see it it will be for you.

They didn't have "panties" in 1950, only "knickers"!! And I can't believe one guy could manhandle a 350 lb (OK, one bit broke off, so let's say 300 lb) stone into a car! Apart from that, pretty accurate and a good watch. Why is there a disclaimer at the end saying this is fiction and any resemblance between... etc? It was fact with very little poetic licence! God help the English if they try to "borrow" back the Stone to crown King Charles! It'll never be allowed to happen.

No explosions, computer generated special effects, just a simple story well told and done by a Canadian Film maker! If we want our film industry to survive and prosper we should show our support at the box office where it counts. The 5 of us had an enjoyable evening.

Good movie... excellent way to spend the afternoon with the wife.

Sweet lighthearted fun along the lines of "Waking Ned Devine" or "The Full Monty", only this has beautiful scenery of Scotland and of Westminster Abbey as well as a historical/political slant (not dogmatic tough) Excellent cast too.

A bit slow to start but a fun, entertaining movie once it gets going.

I give it 7 for spirit. This slightly entertaining heist flic is really a made-for-TV film. Charlie Cox is earnest and principled as young Scottish nationalist Ian Hamilton. Kate Mara is a dish as his demure love interest. The troup enjoys their adventure and we do too. If you go with little expectation you won't be disappointed. It has period charm and strident youth committed to a stirring cause: challenging a sense of national shame. Requiescat in pacem Britannia.

I saw this movie in Edinburgh, Scotland and is a very enjoyable movie, fast paced with some good performances from the four young students ably supported by the legendary Robert Carlyle. It relays the injustice felt by the scottish people on how their country is treated by their imposing neghbour. In all a great feel good movie for all the family and one that has you crying out for independence for the underdog.
