Very well acted. I liked the story a lot, watch it.

For anyone who likes the what if's type of movie, as what could possibly happen when you're on your own unsuspecting while taking a small trip alone and what would you do to survive. I liked it. It was a well thought out movie, that keeps you interested until the end.

Very entertaining overall. Some parts could have been slightly less boring, but overall amazing.

I'm only 12 and I watched James Franco in spiderman and all that but this one stars just him and now I love him, I'm obsessed, I have the book that's based on the movie and the book that Ralston wrote. I love this movie, it's the best ever, I wish I could see him one day, the books are called "between a rock and a hard place" and the other one is based on the movie.

This movie is only faced on 1 person, so boring.

Wow, and that was just the movie. Can you imagine what the real guy went thru. Pretty Scary. I truly envy this guy.

It was entertaining in the sense Danny Boyle was able to use his incredible style of intensity, and dramatics that were used in Slumdog Millionaire and 28 Days Later. It's riveting, intense, and emotionally spectacular. The biggest and only disappointment was James Franco's appearance in this film. Yes, it was his best performance of his career, it's just not believable whenever he's on screen, he just poisons the film.

I saw this in the theatre, read the book, and bought the poster, and I'm still not satisfied! I thought the book was more exciting than the movie since half of the movie is flashbacks and I didn't understand why he didn't cut his arm off within the 24 hours trapped. But great job to James Franco!!

This is a truly inspirational movie. I cried at the end. I went in with low expectations, thinking, oh the whole movie he's just stuck there, I don't know how you can have an hour and a half out of that, but I was so surprised, it didn't seem long at all, the movie was not slow. You need to go see this movie.

Not to diminish the acting ability of James Franco, but the story presented seemed to be missing something. If you've read the book or know more about the background of the main character, you'll know that he's been in extreme life & death elements before. Point being, he is very experienced in outdoor adventures. His story is one of bravery and courage to survive but this film didn't have any real staying power after the end credits.

This was a great movie... even knowing the outcome from the start... seeing how resourceful he had to be... inspirational.

This story did not merit a feature length movie - it would have been more effective and impactive as an IMAX feature around 45 minutes in length. It is a foregone conclusion that if one was ever in the situation that the main character was in you would have remove your limb if you were to survive. The "120 hours" worth of hallucinations seem to detract from the main purpose. In reality did this person really wait 5 days before performing what action any life-loving person would have performed within the first 24 hours? Just seems amiss to me. Seems like Hollywood was just trying to make another thrill-seeking teenager flick with hints of the real story begging to be told.

Excellent performance by James Franco. Really well done and believable. Incredible story with a few scenes of comic relief thrown in. Would definitely recommend.

I loved this movie. It was a very honest portrayal of what would happen to a human being stuck in a crevice. It is slow but I didn't think it was boring. Franco did a great job at acting the part and all of all a terrific money.

Story was good but it was way too slow and made me fast forward every half a minute. You have to see the part when the boulder crashes on his arm and the end - how he escapes. Good I didn't buy a ticket for this movie but saw it on a plane.

As the 7 rating suggests: "Good movie, worth seeing", though not necessarily on the big screen. An interesting story, told pretty well, though I did find myself questioning why they didn't perhaps show some of the search effort that was going on while he was trapped. I guess the moral of the story is - always tell someone where you will be when you're heading out into the wilderness.

I hated the movie sooo badly. Those who have never watched it before, this is a warning! There is no point in watching this! You would be wasting your money. No need to thank me!

Fantastic telling of the true story of Aron Ralston's life changing adventure. Not burdened by things that would detract from the overall power of his story. Great movie that I would recommend everyone see, even if only on a small screen, though it was well worth the cost of admission.
| 9/10 | creslin13@ - 2 reviews 2.3.2011 - age: 26-35 |
This movie was really well done. When I heard that this movie was about a man who was stuck in a rock for 127 hours, I found it hard to imagine how this movie could be made interesting, but it was really well done and I found myself not too bored by it. James Franco also did a very good acting job in this situation and was not boring to watch. By the end I did find myself getting a bit antsy, but overall, it was a job well done. Not a movie that I would watch again, but I definitely do not regret seeing it.

This movie has some good parts, but too much of it is plain boring and monotonous. Too bad because the sights and the acting are impressive.

I wasn't sure what to expect from this movie, but I was pleasantly surprised. Franco was amazing and I truly felt connected with the character. Not an action packed movie. This movie has a slower pace, but reaches it's audience on an emotional level. Worth seeing for sure!
| 8/10 | zbumper11@ - 5 reviews 25.2.2011 - age: 18-25 |
James Franco is an excellent actor & the artsy direction gave the movie originality. Without it, it may have been a little boring, given the simple plot.
| 7/10 | chika404@ - 43 reviews 18.2.2011 - age: 26-35 |
James Franco, you're the man. At no point in this survival story do you ever say to yourself "dude, give up". The amount of time you're rooting for this constant hero is only matched by the triumphant ending. Don't let less than two minutes of footage and hype keep you from experiencing this movie.
| 9/10 | jaykennedy.toronto@ - 6 reviews 17.2.2011 - age: 26-35 |
A cross between Buried and Cast Away, 127 Hours is as entertaining as possible considering it's about a guy in a crack. Oscar-deserving performance by James Franco, and the usual good, yet spazzed-out direction of Danny Boyle. My only complaint is that I knew how it would end before going in, because everyone thinks they have the right to spoil movies that are based on true stories. I found myself waiting for "the scene" instead of just sitting back and enjoying.

Superb acting by James Franco as he truly captures the realization of a character that is going through a life changing experience and a life threatening one as well. Great movie, was rooting for him near the end. Loved it.

I was reminded throughout the movie how many simple things we come to take for granted and how precious they are. I feel lucky to have seen this film if only to be reminded of how fragile we all are and to be grateful for everyone and everything in my life that are really important and make this life worth living. It's also a movie about courage and never giving up no matter what the odds are of failing or not making it. James Franco was a perfectly believable Aron Ralston. The end is slightly overdone but it's an otherwise very strong movie by Danny Boyle.
| 8/10 | mikeddf@ - 59 reviews 8.2.2011 - age: 36-49 |
Danny Boyle puts his talents on show once again with some great directing and writing. Going into the film I was wondering how he would make an entire movie about a man stuck in one spot but he pulled it off with flying colors! This film is an example of film making at its best and deserved every Oscar Nomination it got! James Franco should get the BEST ACTOR Oscar in my point of view. I have previously never been a fan of his in such movies as Spiderman and Pineapple Express but this was a Franco we have never seen before! This will be the role he will be remembered for! By Far one of the best movies of the year! You would be crazy if you skipped this to go to some of the other crappy movies out now! GO WATCH IT! You will not regret it!

People who have not undergone unexpected hardships and trials in life may not fully grasp what is happening in 127 HOURS. This movie is about the incredible power of the human mind to overcome the greatest threat of all: excruciatingly painful death. When faced with approaching death... a human being can either succumb to fatality or overcome it. In 127 HOURS a mountain climber fights his own upcoming death by clinging to life... Good movie, worth seeing.

I thought this was a great movie. It must be very difficult to make a movie with basically one character. I thought it was extremely well done and they built it up to really care about the character. The fact that this is a true story - I think it is amazing the will that would have been needed to do what needed to be done for his survival.
| 9/10 | gloriac@ - 36 reviews 7.2.2011 - age: 36-49 |
We loved this movie. James Franco completely carried it - a less charismatic actor would have made this film a flop.

This is the worst film I have seen all year. It does not live up to the hype at all. Borrring... I agree totally that it felt like 127 hrs long...

I read the book. The movie disappointed me in that director, Boyle never conveyed the real, true character of Aron Rolston, an accomplished mountaineer and outdoors-man, who's history of 3 other near death experiences, including buried by an avalanche, a near river drowning and stocked by a bear for 2 days, were never known to the viewer. Boyle used distracting scene changing and music to sugar coat the viewer into believing his version of the true story. You will probably like the film, it is artsy, which I normally like, but it didn't work for this story, sadly I never really connected with the hollywood version of Aron Rolston's character, as good as James Franco was.

Once was enough for me. It got tidious and boring after a while. There was no real suspense. It was just the story of a man that loved hiking in the canyons that ends up getting trapped and doing what it took to escape. This movie shouldn't have made it to the theatre.
