This is a highly intense film for the most part about two lost souls caught between their Turkish origins and their desire for Western lifestyles. Birol Unel, who has the maniacal look of the late Klaus Kinski, turns in a bravado performance as a man hell bent on self destruction, as does Sibel Kikelli as a woman caught between old world traditions and a desire for a freer life.
