Wow this movie captures the actual working life in the crazy fast moving fashion world. Streep and Hathaway did a fab job portraying their roles.

I loved this movie. I thought it was an amazing example of staying true to yourself (even if it takes you awhile to realize it) I loved the outfits and I thought Anne Hathaway was AMAZING, as well of Streep. Overall, I thought the comedy was lovely and the story line was well played. And for all you people who said this movie was not good and not oscar material, YOU'RE OUT OF YOUR MIND! And now I'm going to go watch The Devils Wears Prada for 57th time.. (Btw, if you haven't seen it, don't believe the bad reviews, go rent it and see if you like it!)

You can't escape all the starpower poured into this movie. Meryl Streep never ceases to amaze me! A must-see.

I don't like giving Streep movies such a bad rating, but this one deserves it! I have no idea how so many people gave this movie such a high rating!! Hathaway's character was the single most self-obsessed person I think I've seen on film. She took the "I-me-my" syndrome to new heights! A character who sells her soul to gets something she never wanted in the first place and still gets everything she "suddenly" realizes she wanted all along in the end. Bad story line, 2 dimensional characters and a go nowhere plot. Please don't waste your time!

Witty, creative and inspiring... Gave clever insight into the reality of being an assistant. Meryl Streep was fantastic- loved to hate her.
| 9/10 | ajgladysz@ - 4 reviews 26.7.2007 - age: 18-25 |
This movie is a must see! Featuring the enchanting, talented Meryl Streep and the pretty Anne Hathaway, I would rate this motion picture a 9/10. Full of glamour and fashion, the story is simple yet captivating. The outfits were divine and so fashionable; it made the viewer feel as though they were part and watching the life of runway from close-up. The movie is much better then the book, and fills even higher expectations then the viewer had anticipated. Normally books are better written, due to human imagination just flowing and thinking, but this director has captured it right on. Paris was wonderful, and the key actresses were phenomenal and lived up to their given statuses. The other first assistant was funny and portrayed her character well, cruel but also beautiful. This movie is a must rent!

Outfits were great! Acting was fun to watch. It had its own twists and turns, but nice to watch on a relaxing afternoon. Just watched it with friends last weekend on DVD.

I wasn't overly impressed and this was a movie I was wanting to see. It was long in places and I guess I just couldn't relate to it. It didn't seem natural.

Meryl Streep plays the ultimate high powered businesswoman you love to hate: pompous, condescending, and demanding. Anne Hathaway plays the complete opposite and her junior assistant: unfashionable, vulnerable and very likeable. She soons blossoms into very fashionable lady under to watchful eye of Meryl's character. A great movie and fun to watch Meryl Streep as the ultimate [...]!
| 8/10 | kdmicro@ - 14 reviews 18.3.2007 - age: 36-49 |
Fashion as entertainment draws a crowd, for sure. But what makes this movie a winner is the female on female conflict. The attitude is fierce, here. Prepare to do battle, ladies. The battle lines are drawn - between ourselves. In other words, women can act like Karl Rove, no problem. This film wouldn't be so intriguing if it was cast with males in the lead roles, would it? Just goes to show that an influential businesswoman is still a fish-out-of-water irony for most of us.

Deviated to much from the book. Meryl Streep was fantastic.

Trivial waste of time. Meryl Streep totally overrated. Oscar material? Hardly!

A masterpiece, go see it now. Rofl. The devil wears prada was a grate movie. I loved it alot. But maybe that's just b/c im into fashion. If your not, you might not want to see it. But if you ARE into fashion, etc. WATCH IT NOW. There's good acting in the movie. So watch it!

A bit slow from start to finish to let you give a careful look at the Fashion establishment and its jewels. The Fashion and Glamour World seems out for the taking. We are not only spectators but consumers that have to be up to date in contemporary always new fashion dressing. Anne Hathaway evolution from free spirit to a fashion slave particularly to the Devil, devoid herself of any ego to be able to conform, adapt and survive in this new surprising reality she's got herself into, which reality changes itself all the time like a chameleon making everything look frantic and chaotic. In screen presence even though she is not the very powerful main character, Hathaway conquers Evil by herself and then leaves hell before she gets burnt. Brilliant performances by Meryl Streep, Stanley Tucci, Emily Blunt From ("My Last Summer of Love"), and of course Anne Hathaway, the new Jennifer Connelly but lighter and less gloomy. She dances her way in and out in an effortless performance, a true natural. It is also about a love story and strong values. Loyalty is of the essence. Betrayal too.

Very enjoyable movie. I liked the cynical comedy that is brought by the character of Miranda (Meryl Streep) Her performance obviously adds a lot of points to the movie, but the two young actresses who play the role of the 2 assistants are great as well. I don't think that this movie is more original than any other hollywood comedy, it has the same elements as movies like How to lose a guy in 10 days, The breakup or Love actually. I'm glad I rented it because I don't think that it's the kind of movie to watch in theatre, but it's a great movie on DVD, I definitely recommend it.

I rented it (hearing good things and expecting a great movie) Nope. Boring - Anne was good but boring storyline. Too bad, could of been so much better.

It is a dog-eat-dog world out there. This movie does a good job of portraying that. It also shows you that you have options/choices.

Firstly, the movie was said to be a comedy, this is false advertising, it's just not funny. There are some parts that one might find amusing, but the flick just a drama wanting to be a comedy. That being said, the movie was ok. The message is mixed. A: Fashion, being super thin and not caring about people when they get in the way of a dream that doesn't make you happy, is important and good. Or B: If your not happy with your job quit... I don't know, I though that the message in this movie was terrible! Forget who you are, spit on you friends, a thin body image is everything, you MUST look like society wants you to look. Crap. I'm sorry. However on a more positive note, Meryl Streep did a good job, really the think all the actors did well enough. The wardrobe was cool (but rather forced on the viewers)

A cute little film with plenty of laughs. But, I really don't see where the Oscar buzz is coming from around Meryl Streep's performance.
| 7/10 | frostbiteboy@ - 67 reviews 13.12.2006 - age: 36-49 |
Worth seeing just for Stanley Tucci! I enjoyed the movie, but was totally confused by previous reviews touting Meryl Streeps performance as Oscar worthy. I mean, she's good, but not that good. A charming film, with enough bite to make it interesting. Worth the money.

Good movie, but not great. Meryl slept through her scenes, but showed some effort in parts, Hathoway was better than expected. Moved a little slow and I found myself not getting involved in what happens to the characters. Sex and the city fans will love it probably. 7.5/10.

I read the book first and then saw the movie and they ended differently. Meryl Streep was really strong but did anyone notice that Anne Hathaway kind of played the same role as in the Princess Diaries-- the kind of klutzy helpless girl who is transformed? Anyhow still go see it-- it was HILARIOUS!

Not bad at all. Should be great for the girls, but even I as a guy found it mildly interesting and compelling. Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep work terrifically together, and should both get looks for Oscar consideration.
