Why waste your time commenting on a movie on the internet? So others don't have to waste there time watching a film so bad that even Steven King couldn't make it. M. Night should stick to directing and put down his pen for good. How many crappy movies in a row can someone make before going bankrupt. People may say this is art, that it makes you think, that it is a high brow type of entertainment, but a real movie does not give you five minutes to think about the same scene, does not change dialog forms three or four times thru-out(old tongue to modern), and absolutly does not make great actors struggle to make thier lines look natural and not at all fragmented. Anybody that enjoyed this movie should watch it twice and and re-examine what they liked about it. I'm not trying to be negative to anyone that thought this was a good movie, but it is an obvious money grab riding on M Night's previous success (Sixth Sense) Do yourself a favour and rent this one, that way you won't feel guilty turning it off it the middle. Don't worry you won't miss much.

This is a movie you will pretty much forget you ever saw in a few months! The cast was mediocre, and the acting dismal. There is little charactor development, and you don't really get a feel for the town milieu before it becomes terrorized by "those we don't speak of". The premise for the movie is orignal... reminds one of similar societies that use fear to keep its people "united". Could definitely been much better... its too bad. It did have many eerie scenes that involved jumping out of your seat!

Expectation, expectations... keep 'em low, and you won't be disappointed. The trailers for this movie are a bit misleading, similar to previous films by Shyalamanorwhateverhisnameis. Either way, I went in expecting it to SUCK - and knowing that it probably wasn't what the trailers implied... In the end, it was entertaining - cheap night worthy, at best.

Had a twist to it, but I didnt find it worth going to, a couple of jumpy parts but overall, not worth paying for.

The movie was not scary at any point... the ending was wayyy to forced and if this is what a movie with a twist ending is, anyone with half a brain can make one.

There were so many chances to be good but they just pissed it all down the toilet. The person on my right fell asleep, and the one on my left was seeing if he knew anyone else in the theatre. It was just to slow to watch in the theatre.

I was greatly disapointed about this movie. It wasnt much of a horror movie, it was like a sad love story. The ending ruined the movie, please dont see this movie. Mr shamylan did not deliever the goods this time.

I am very surprised at the negative response this movie's getting. There are not many movies that go beyond it's simple plot and achieve shock and surprise right until the end. Very well thought out. People felt cheated because they were expecting a monster movie, the end result is alot more satisfying than what could have simply been about monsters eating people. Which would not have made sense if the director aimed for realism.

I can understand why many people chose to down this movie. After all, art is an individual form of appreciation. However, I really like this movie and was more than happy to have seen it. It's true that the trailers were misleading and it really doesn't fit in a thriller category. It is a a genueine drama which brings out the superior acting of the main characters. Of course, just like his previous movie Signs, this movie has many deep messages that will only occur to you if look beyond the thrilling elements of the film. This movie gave me three messages. One is the strength of love, Power of Belief, and finally the Value of our society. This movie has an original script. HOWEVER, I really find it's self-indulging for the M. Night Shyamalan to be acting as an extra in every movie that he has ever produced. He is a horrible actor and please stop ruining your own film..

It seems Mr. Night's movies are subtle philosophical questions. He doesn't tell you what to think, but brings forth questions you may have pushed to the back of your mind as you get caught up in everyday consumer living. I think his movies invite you to explore your own values and the values of our society. To get the most out of his movies, you should not look for the spectacular, but to the thinking of the characters. I think his characters are presented in their most innocent inner minds and that is why some of the scenarios may seem somewhat off. Think of some of the hokey fantasies you've caught yourself daydreaming and you might understand. That place where anything goes... If your movie style is action packed, heavy effects, this movie may put you to sleep. If you like your entertainment to inspire your thoughts and leave you primed for debate, you should enjoy this film. Many will guess the story from the start, however it is entertaining and very meaningful. The presentation in respect the the audience is very objective - which is nice. You are invited to form your own point of view. Several people wrote that they did not like the ending because it wasn't finite. I think it was as it should be because there is no right conclusion to if you are presenting from an objective point of view. I give it a 8 out of 10.

I wanted to like this movie. I sat patiently waiting to like this movie and be nice and scared. I waited and waited and nothing happened. This was a bad movie totally devoid of suspense. I'm not sure what genre of movie this was. It was like watching Little House on the Prairie meants Blair Witch Project. The monster looked like a cross between Freddy Kruger and Little Red Riding Hood. The third act consists of sending a blind girl into a forest she's never been in to get medicine for the victim of a stabbing. How is she able to navigate? Dunno but somehow she makes it there and back... the end. Yawn!

Do not believe other reviews but this one. This is a well done movie that deserves much more than a 6. Acting is superb and the story pognant. By far the best movie of Mr. Shyamalan. As for the people who figured it out in the first 10 minutes... c'mon gimme a break or go make your own movie.

I personally love all of M. Night Shymalan's films (The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, Signs... ) The Village is probably my favourite, but not because it was scary. That was they only thing this movie lacked. In most horror films you jump atleast once at something, but I found this one didn't do it for me. The Village has a beautiful story and wonderful twists. I would suggest you go see it!

I have to say, I did expect a little more from this movie. I did see the ending coming. After seeing his past movies you expect a big twist at the end and this one was easy to figure out. Still I enjoyed the acting very much, the earlier surprises were good and the setting and atmosphere was well done. The story is a little slow and at some point in the movie you want to tell them to get on with it. So overall I enjoyed parts of the movie but compared to the others it's the weakest one.

This movie was in my TOP 5 Wrost Movies Ever. The acting was good, but the movie didn't stick to its plot line, and the ending was bad. I wouldn't recommended this movie to no one of all ages. Even if you like scarey movies.

I never write down my comments on a movie, but I feel I need to this time. This is, by far, the dumbest movie I have ever seen. Outside of the fact that the trailer depicts this movie as a thriller, which it really is not, this movie really lacks content. Granted, the ending is surprising, but not worth the agony of watching the whole thing. The acting is pretty good, but M. Night should stop trying to match the 6th sense, it's just hurting his movies. It's nice to have an ending you can't guess, but you also need content for the rest of the film!! If you are expecting a good thriller, you will be dissapointed.

At least it has the right name... This movie focuses way to much on the day to day life of the villagers. The plot is slow moving and lacks greatly in any suspense and has next to no thrill. Not to mention if you pay attention to the inconsistencies in the village visable, the first visible in the opening scene, then then ending becomes very predictable... By far and away his worst yet. He always follows a simple formula, and a character with a troubled past, put them in a creppy atmosphere, and build up to a twist ending... but this one lacked in all departments even though it tried to follow his formula... If it had been advertised as a drama, or maybe even suspence drama, it would have scored better. But this flick provided no thrill.

That was the worst movie I have ever seen in my life! I would have gave it a zero if I could have but I cant. As many other people have mentioned it was very dull and VERY slow. Just when you thought it was going to get good, it became even worse!

I went into this movie expecting something much different than what I recieved. The story line was weak, the actors were pathetic and the scare-factor was non-exsistant. So I left frustrated and annoyed that I had just wasted a good 2 hrs of my life.

I thought the movie was pretty good!! I'm not ususally creeped out by movies but this one did for a while... The acting was really good and if you looked closely at it it had a really cool concept! The only disappointing part was the ending!! All in all, I thought it was worth it!

With so many movies out now with the extended trailers, you don't even need to go to the theatre anymore. This movie is the exception. You never know what M. Night is going to bring but you know to hold on as you are going down a twisting road. I never guessed the ending to this movie as I have never guessed the end to any of his movies. Some people complain that is not scary and the scariness is not what attracts me. It is the element of surprise and shock. To be taken down a road where the unexpected is expected is sure worth my money. He never disapoints. I highly suggest you all go see this movie and um go see it NOW!!

I really can't understand how people "down" this movie, I thought it was excellent! The acting is superb, the story is original, the setting and environment is appropriate, and the way it is filmed is well crafted. This isn't another boring scary movie, but it does pack some "jumpy" punches. Definitely worth the price of admission. I can't wait for Shyamalan's next movie!

I expected more out of this movie due to the trailers. I felt there were some inconsistancies with some of the characters, and I think that the movie was a little slow to get started. But, my biggest problem was the boom mic. You could see it through most of the movie at the theatre I went to, and it took a lot away from the movie. The "twist" was okay, but I felt it was predictable when the people talked so much about "the towns". I liked "Sixth Sense" better.

Shamalayan definitely threw me for a loop... I was expecting a dud after Signs, which I thought for completely moronic -- but this one as reviews on this page say, was completely different that what we could have expected, and such a play on the advertisements... the man's brilliant - sometimes he misses, but often he hits it, and that's better than most!

I have just gotten back from watching this movie. I would say most was pretty good, the ending was very poor. I suppose they could have just made the movie with a bunch of hutterites and just forbid them to go into the forest. About the same excitement. No way this deserves a 10.7 at most.

Very disappointed by this film. It is sold to the public as a suspense thriller but it was not scary at all, in fact, the story was slow and boring, yes boring. The performances were good but that's about it. M. Night will forever be trying to live up the the success of The Sixth Sense, one of the best thrillers ever made. His other films fall short of this and The Village is just a real stinker. I'm beginning to I think M. Night Shyamalan is a one trick pony.

I thought this was very well done. It is so nice to see a writer and director with a vision that M. Night Shyamalan has-which is that of suspense, twists and turns unexpected. The begining was slow but we as the audience need to grasp the fear and knowlege that the village has been lead on. I liked very much!

Saw the 1960's black and white British version of the "village", actually was a horror movie, however, ending similar [...], so right away, I guessed the twist at the end... I guess he couldn't come up with anything original.

A nice movie! The actors were all amazing, without exception. The twist in the end was somewhat surprising. The young actress was lovely, and the cinematography was beautiful. We can't compare every M. Knight movie to the Sixth Sense, that would be really unfair. It wasn't a horror movie, but then again, that is obvious from the rating. The knife scene is masterful. Some scenes in the woods were a little unrealistic, but keep in mind that the young lady had above average capacities and intelligence. My partner, on the other hand, fell asleep most of the movie, and missed the whole twist. Did you catch M. Knight's cameo appearence à la Hitchcock?

If you didn't like this movie, then you just didn't GET IT! I agree that the advertising promises a horror movie, which is misleading as it's so much more than that! There's a lot going on here that reflects the kinds of games our own leaders have been playing with us ever since 911, and while the "power of love" thing didn't play well to a cynic like me, I thought the film was masterfully done and very thought provoking.

M. Night Shymalan does it again! He's become the Hitchcock of our generation with imaginative and original twists in his films. The Village has everything you look for in a movie, great acting, romance and enough suspense to keep you on the edge of your seat.

The commercials for this movie are extremely misleading. You are made to believe this is a horror film, when it's not. It's a love story, period. That kind of pissed me off because I thought I was going to watch a scary movie, which is why I actually posted a rating here..

I think that it was abosolutely amazing! The twists kept you on edge and wanting to know whats going to happen next. In my opinion I think that this is the best the M. Night Shyamalan has done yet! I really liked how there was that element of love in it... the sixth sence and signs didn't have that in it so I thought it was refeshing.

I enjoyed this movie. Poeple these days say that Shaymalan can't be a one trick pony, and when he does something that is not as scary, but still enjoyable and suspensful. You have to realize that if Shyamalan keeps doind Sixth Sense style twists, people will get bored. I just say let him go on making movies the way he wants to, and who knows, he might come up with another scary one in a bit.
