Excellent movie, if you look upon all the fighting, do not go with young children, sex scenes and violence.

Way too much hype for this movie. I don't think I've ever laughed so much during a 'serious' movie. Beautiful to look at but the writer should learn the trade before putting it to the screen. Miller should never have touched historic events [...] and why did they have so many 'freedom' speeches and one liners? friggin ridiculous, definitely not a film for the intelligent.

An amazing job bringing a comic series to the big screen. Great story, a masterpiece of 2 hours.

A great well told story of heros of that time good show...

A huge waste of time and money. For all the blood flying around it was amazing that not a drop fell on anyone of the Spartans! Theres two hours I'll never get back!!

This show was fantastic. The fight scenes are amazing and very well done. It was artistically done and I especially enjoyed the "team-work" fights.

Excellent movie. Not for the weak-stomached, very realistic visualization. A great movie that isn't too long like other epic movies of the same.

Not a good film, but if you like action and blood and special effects, go for it, but don't expect more. I find that the story is not as good as I tought, it is too simple and predictable. The special effects don't look as real as I tought. Very far from Lord of The Ring for the colossal battle.

I really anticipated this movie and it didn't disappoint! I was sorry to see it end!

Epic dialogue, beautiful scenery, amazing fight scenes, incredible visual effects and to finish it off, a great story. A must see!

I didn't like that movie, I was boring since the beginning. Maybe on DVD but even not sure.
| 5/10 | sanbru22@ - first review 12.3.2007 - age: 26-35 |
Meh, I didn't like it, very comparable in theme and subject to Gladiator, but much weaker in all aspects.

Truly a masterpiece. A wonderful display of how great and brave men with honor truly are. Great evidence of the greatness and history of Greece. A must see for anyone.

Fully entertaining from start to finish... especially in IMAX! I would have given it a 10 but for a few corny lines/scenes. Gerard Butler was perfectly cast for the role of the Spartan King. He nailed the performance dead on. A great movie all around.

Absolutely incredible. It is told and narrated as a story to inspire the troops, and the cinematography blends beautifully with the narration, which complements the action scenes, which drive the plot, which is highlighted by the superb acting. Highly recommended.

Absolutely stunning movie. I loved every minute of it - so much in fact that I saw it twice over the weekend. Creative film making at it's finest. I hope Frank Miller keeps up these types of movies because they are amazing to watch.
| 10/10 | kmart22@ - 25 reviews 12.3.2007 - age: 26-35 |
Very well done. This film is an example of how technology and art can combine to produce a very entertaining result. A bit violent for some... but it is depicting a battle. Historians should stick to books if they are looking for accuracy as this is a story based on a comic... that was inspired by the true story. Loved it.

You know, so many people have been complaining about the fact that it doesn't go with History. You know what? Who cares. It's a movie, not a history lesson. If you can't learn to enjoy a movie, then stay at home all day and stare at your wall. This was a great movie. I wasn't exactly too thrilled with the nakie-ness, but well it wasn't that much of it. The main character plays the part well, though it is funny because most of the actors aren't Greek at all. anyway, it's a must-see because of the fact it's GOOD, not because it tells you what happened in the past. This is not a history lesson, kids. It's a MOVIE. A pretty darn good one, I might add... again.

As a Greek, I must say this movie delivered an accurate storyline as to what happened those many years ago. This is a movie about war and blood and holding off a persian empire. The real story was gruesome and violent, and the movie held tru to that. There wasn't any side stories or anything like that which took away from the point of the movie. Honor and Respect. The action scenes were brilliant, and I had goosebumps all over throughout the whole movie. After HUGE disappointments with TROY ad ALEXANDER, its great to finally see a movie that shows how Greeks really were back then.

I enjoyed the movie overall, the sepia tone cinematography was awesome!!! I was captivated right from the beginning. A feel good movie that cuts down beneath the surface of emotion; not just a action, fight and bloodbath story.
| 7/10 | sordfish@ - 2 reviews 12.3.2007 - age: 36-49 |
A souless film and a distortion of actual events. The real story was infinitely more interesting. The film fails to inspire, entertain and educate.
| 3/10 | asder789@ - first review 12.3.2007 - age: 36-49 |
Good visual effects, and that's about the only thing that's good about it. First off, Spartans were known as a men of a few words - and the movie is full of those cheesy speeches. Second, they've had a bronze weapons, not even steel ones, yet they cut off limbs like they have Star Wars' laser swords - come on, be a more realistic. Third, a lot of Sin City-style effects is used, however, what looks good in a movie based on a comics book, doesn't really fit here. So, I guess it's OK to go and see it, but don't expect much, except for OK visuals.

I think I have only written one other review where I have been at a loss for words, and that was for The Blood Diamond. Now, I am not comparing the two films, only the effect they had on me. I am almost speechless, you just need to go watch this movie... it is incredible, people were clapping at the end. The Queen is the most unforgettable character.

Good movie. Great action, dialogue and cinematography. I was jetlagged so, I am glad that the story line was weak. I just sat back and enjoyed the six packs and very small battle uniforms!!

If you are the kind who doesn't carry a brain around, and takes abdominal pleasure from moving pictures, this is for you! Just keep in mine that xerex was the first author of the Charter of Rights; and his empire was the largest of the antiquity time!

What a movie!! Must see it on IMAX. Graphics are stunning, the story is not that elaborate but that's not why you go see an action/war movie.

This movie was fantastic, the fighting scenes in slow motion were absolutely amazing and beautiful. They made war into an art form.

This was by far the worst movie I've ever wasted my time going to. No story line, horrible cinematography, even my husband and step-son didn't like it... we got up and left... ho-hum... don't waste your time or money on this one.

With some of the movies that come out today it is so nice to see something original and as captivating. The visuals alone make this movie worth seeing. I thought the acting was fantastic. The slow motion battle scenes I really liked I thought it was done perfectly! A define must see! Ment for theatres for sure!

I read the history in detail before seeing it. There were a few small consolations from truth for story effect but I was amazed how historically accurate many of the details were. Great movie that told of a great event in history!! loved it!!
| 10/10 | sway34@ - 2 reviews 12.3.2007 - age: 36-49 |
Excellent movie, for the people who are complaining about the special effects, Its based on a graphic novel (wich I own) and let me tell you that you can find like in sin city, every camera angle, shade effect, movement etc like in the book, Its meant to be that way. As for the unreal deformed people its also in the novel. It is historically accurate for the most part beside the monsters. Great actors, perfect sound, Camera angle and style can only be described by the word masterpiece! Its one of those rare movie that makes you go to wikipedia to find out more about the actual events. A must see.

Not to sure what to think, I guess the visuals were good, but it kinda dragged in places. The King was well acted, as were other main characters, but overall, not the best I've seen.

An Excellent movie and it's a must see on the BIG screen. I rarely give out a high score to movies unless they really move me but this movie had it all. There's love, there's drama, there's more action than you can handle... and most of all there's a story ( a good story ) I was excited to see the movie 2 months prior to its release and usually when you wait that long... you end up a little disappointed. I am happy to say that this movie was well worth the wait. I was impressed with the CGI and more impressed with the acting considering the fact that the actors were doing this all in front of a blue screen. I have a new respect for the main star, Gerard Butler. He really put everything into the character he played and all the characters were justly served.

Wow I just cant get over how many people on here think they're the next ebert and roeper but I guess everyone's entitled to their opinions so with that being said here's mine. The movie was good, plenty of action and the slow-mo kills if you're into that... hell there was even a little bit of comedy thrown in there to keep the movie itself balanced. Plot wise... yes it's not historically accurate but who the hell cares? it's not based on the actual historic events, it's based on a graphic novel that is based somewhat on historic events.
