At times, hard to watch, but it is funny.

Lots of "oh no he didn't" type chuckles but no cry laughs.

I guess most men my age (26-35).. like this movie... hey I had a serious of laughs attacks... love the sarcasm and irony throughout the whole film. You cant compare this film to Borat or Bruno, despite that it's of the whole stereotype propaganda. Worth renting.

Leave your bleeding-heart racism and piety at the door and enjoy. This is an excellent film. And it is a film more than a mocumentary reality Ali G-type film I was coming to expect. It is extremely funny, prejudiced, and it is there to bother and annoy you. It works perfectly in this way. It is better than BORAT because it is in another realm. As good as BORAT was, it was still in reality tv mode. This is more of a light-hearted comedy with a bunch of scatological jokes and lewd references. Great film if you need a laugh and don't take yourself too seriously.

A sorry excuse for a movie. Avoid at all costs. His humour worked in Borat but here it completely looses its appeal, if it ever really had any. The best part of the movie is the Megan Fox cameo, unfortunately that only lasts a whole minute or so. In fact I don't know why she's mentioned in the starring roles when she really doesn't have a role in the movie. Oh wait I undertsand, the producers realized how the best part of the movie is her appearance and wanted to highlight it. My advise, skip to the Megan Fox appearance if only to see her and stop the movie. It's not worth it.

I went to see this movie at the behest of a friend. I figured it would be déjà vu all over again, esp. since I'd happened upon some half a dozen TV interviews w/ Sasha Cohen, no two of which came w/ the same clips. So I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the previews gave very little away. Moreover, this movie bears little resemblance to "Borat," say... except in offering something to offend almost everyone. "The Dictator," that is, has a discernible plot, one that clearly qualifies it as a Screwball Comedy. It's also one of the best English-language films of the past year or more... which also, I admit, says a lot about the deteriorating quality of movie production.

Unlike Borat and Bruno, The Dictator was completely scripted. There were no "real" reactions from unsuspecting dupes. No cringe factor at all. Maybe not as funny as Borat but a very clever piece of funny writing and Cohen never fails to convince. This guy just wants to make us laugh and there are no boundaries and nothing is off-limts, nothing.

GAWD awful and even that is generous. What a disgusting and vulgar flic that should be banned and censored. Make sure your kids don't sneak in and for goodness sake, don't take your elderly parents to this as they will be very offended and hurt.

I don't remember but it's been a while since I laughed so hard. Not a stupid movie at all! Ironic, satyric -yes, a trash - no. It can make you uncomfortable at times, though, if you come with a wife/kids/female friends.

To my sense of humour, this was a hilarious and fantastic movie. I would not recommend this to everyone, but definitely to my friends. Very crude, harsh, and vulgar, but overall very funny.

This is the first thing by Sacha Baron Cohen that didn't make me laugh myself silly. Most of the film I actually was waiting to get out the door...

This is the mildest of the Sacha Baron Cohen films I've seen. That's all right - it still had the raunchy factor. Good for a few laughs if you're not a prude.

The movie is fairly short. Overall, I was disappointed. Not a lot of funny scenes. The movie isn't as good as the trailer would make you think.

I found this movie very offensive. There is nothing funny about all the people who were shot at the German Olympics. This and most of the other 'jokes' were very distasteful.

There's no reason other than popcorn to see this in the theater but it is, unlike every other Cohen movie, worth seeing. It was genuinely funny... light hearted and good for laughs.

This movie had 5 minutes of humour at the start, and another 5 at the end. Everything in-between left everybody rolling their eyes and waiting for something funny to happen. I was really disappointed as I like Sacha Baron Cohen, but this movie really missed the mark.

You have to have a crooked sense of humor to appreciate a movie like this. I thought it was hilarious. Better than his other movies for sure!!

I rate this movie an 8 out of 10 comparing it to Borat and Bruno, and other similar spoof comedies. It is very funny without a lot of the "over the top" offensive or gross things from both of the other ones. The comedy has the satirical, witty humor you expect from Sacha Baron Cohen with the typical stereotypes that people without "political correctness issues" can laugh out loud at. It is also an "actual movie" and not a "docu comedy" like the others where they are pretending to be a character among everyday people who don't know that they are in a movie. It has a surprisingly good plot and a consistent fast pace. I was laughing out loud throughout the whole thing and even my mom who is almost 70 years old enjoyed it, so you know it is not really offensive. If you want to have a serious laugh and see Cohen in his best performance you must check it out!

Sexist, demeaning towards women. This movie should never had been allowed to hit the big screen. This movie shows us that women still have a long way to go in order to educate all male chauvinists in how to behave...

I chuckled several times. Somewhere south of Borat and north of Bruno. Could have been a good premise but runs afoul with mediocrity and a conventional ending.

It's an interesting "political" satire; Sasha Baron Cohen does it again, poking fun at his own people, and at the terrorism pervading the Middle East. The guy has chutzpah for making a movie like this! I commend him.
