This film to me I found to be quite remarkable and loved the humor. The acting here was I considered quite outstanding and the writing was really quite amazingly done. Whoever did it done a terrific job and this had made this to get it to be recommended to watch. I had to put off with the emotional as I am an emotional person who crys and happen to be sensitive to these kind of films but still found it to be very well done. It brought many of us ideas of our own towards our own society The artwork in this film was quite interesting and well put. This film showed towards the way how Russia had its hardships and this brought alot of attention especially the difficulties that they had in the past. Although with European films I had to grasp the english from the subtitles. I still was being able to find out how everything had worked and understand the film although the accent was difficult but all in all was able to find out the type of lifestyles Russia had. Nikila was great in acting as well as the other actors and actresses had done a great job to bring the attention to us viewer and made this film to be a success and brought alot of enthusiasm to have everyone enjoy and be impressed.

I got bored and stopped watching the DVD after over an hour. Too slow for my taste.

Awesome movie very compelling. The actors are fabulous and the script is well written... contains some funny scenes and a lot of emotional scenes. Recommended!

Film making at its best! This is an excellent movie on so many levels... it will leave you with an appreciation of true talent.

I really went there mostly with negative thinking... but was I ever surprised! Excellent film... says so much about not only their society but can apply to ours as well... see it!

An amazing film, from the acting to the story to the art direction, everything works and the time flies by. On top of an ingenious concept that speaks volumes about humanity's capacity for mercy and condemnation, it illustrates the chillingly broken-up picture of modern day Russia. Go see it as soon as you can!

Excellent movie. Especially if you lived in CIS in the past 15 years. However for English speaking people it would be much harder to concentrate on the action itself and read Sub-titles. It would be great to translate the movie to English... then show to an English speaking audience. At the same time I do not feel like people in western counties will follow the idea. Same as East-Europeans do not follow the ideas of some western (Hollywood) movies. The movie briefly shows the life in post-soviet regime. There are no winners but losers. People always suffer off "BIG" changes. Such a BIG changes did not happen in western world. I wish you watch it and try to get the terrifying sadness of all events happened on a BIG territory called Soviet Union. Each character shows the layer of society with all applied characteristics. Thanks Nikita! Another masterpiece!

The actors are great. Each of them. Just great. They show all kind of emotions so genuinely... Something we need in Hollywood.

Great movie! Especially for Russia! Makes you think of choices you make and of effect of those choices.

I hate Mikhalkov, but let's give it to him - when he wants, he makes great movies! With the cast of brilliant actors - who was let to improvise a lot, which made this movie even better - great catching episodes - just the frames with running dog with something in it's jaw will get into cinema history books - this movie will definitely give lots of pleasure to REAL cinema fans. One can think it would be hard to watch for 2 hours a talks of 12 people sitting around the table in the same room - but the thing is - you are holding your breath during the whole seance!!! I am not giving it 10 because of Mikhalkov himself - his appearance in disguise of a "prophet" and his 'father of nation" monologue at the end is just ewww.
