    42

"42" is one of the finest sports stories ever to grace the silver screen. Harrison Ford, who plays Brooklyn Dodger owner Branch Rickey in probably the finest characterization in his long memorable career gives an Academy Award worthy performance. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if Ford gets nominated and wins the best actor award. The casting of Chadwick Boseman as Jackie Robinson was brilliant casting as he resembled the real Robinson. A very moving dramatization of the blatantly racist past of Major League baseball and the courage of Branch Rickey to change the face of professional sports forever and Jackie Robinson who didn't buckle under enormous pressure to become the first Black player in professional sports laying the ground for many more players of race to bring their talents to the forefront. Movies as fine as "42" are very rewarding because they inspire. Movie making at its best.
