It almost became a great horror movie, but it follows too many devices of recent films. Acting was fair. The film makers confuse the audience about Charlie. Those who viewed the film think DeNiro's character was actually Charlie, when it was actually a trick Charlie played on him. The character became possessed by Charlie at the end. If you see the film again, you will see too many reasons why the father (DeNiro) could not have done the killings. But after the possession occurs, the mystique disappeared and the film rips off Psycho. There really wasn't a surprise twist, it just looks like one. But the film falls apart at that point and it's a real shame, cuz it could have been a good film.
