Yeah it was predictable (but that's how we all want it to be.) Yeah it is a chick-flick (I wouldn't feel comfortable seeing it by myself without my wife, yet I really liked it.) But I felt good after leaving the theater. I felt satisfied because the movie makes you feel good. Loved Vanessa Redgrave in her role. The only really criticism I have is what happens to the young couple after the movie, supposing the story was real. The young brit, who we discover has a romantic side, still reacts in nasty cutting ways as his ususal character is. Just wait and you will see him getting super-abusive over small things. How long would Sophie stand for that? But we all want to block that part out. His grandmother had to force him to apologize! (Now she has her own husband.) The revelation that he has hidden 'human' feelings shouldn't be misinterpreted as a change of personality and character. She was better off with the Italian restaurant guy, but she didn't share his interests. Her loss really.
