Produced by Martin Scorsese and directed by Anthony Fuqua, Lightning in a Bottle is the quintessential Blues performance film. Filmed in the legendary Radio City Music Hall in New York city we are treated to some of the greatest Blues musicians in history performing live in concert and through archival footage. If you love the Blues this movie has it all in spades. This little gem is history making because some of the performers have passed away since it was made. With a historical overview the film starts with Black slaves brought over to America tracing the roots of Blues to the present day, Standout performances by Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown, Bonnie Raitt, BB King and Robert Cray just to name a few make for a very entertaining musical ride you won't soon forget. Right up there with "The Last Waltz" and "Gimme Shelter", Lightening in a Bottle is a music genre film Masterpiece.
