How do you define a great movie? The special effects? Fast cars? Nearly naked girls? Well it's one of those things that there's no easy way to tell but you know when you see it, that's what Dallas Buyers Club is - an excellent movie. We follow the true to life tale of Ron Woodruff, who in 1985 after living a life of debauchery is diagnosed with HIV & the AIDS virus and then given 30 days to live and get his affairs in order. Ron, 'a man's man' goes through something of a transformation from a weekend cowboy to something of a rebel with a cause, fighting the FDA and shedding a light on the pharmaceutical profit motives over the respectful care of patients afflicted with AIDS. This is, if you haven't grasped my drift by now, an excellent movie and well worth your time if you are into good movies. But if you're only into special effects, fast cars, and nearly naked girls then pass this one up as it isn't for you.
