Best film of 1948, Hamlet is the B+W Shakespearean drama which did not draw me in as I had hoped. The film is overly, overly long and Lord Olivier was much too long in the tooth to be playing a young man's role. That bothered me. His Mother looked around the same age as he did. The best film of that year should have gone to "The Treasure of The Sierra Madre." Olivier also took best actor of the year. I'm not much of a fan of this work.
