    Alfred Hitchcock's masterpiece lost at see with Tallulah Bankhead., in a New York Film Critics Best Acting Award for 1944. It's all very suspenseful with all of the stranded crew invested with their own private agenda. It was a shame that Tallulah's winning performance didn't even garnish an Oscar Nomination. It shows how Hollywood was prejudiced against New York Theatre Actors. Bankhead was never able to make a crossover from Broadway to Hollywood. It's sad because with the right scripts and directors she would have been at least partially respectable. She was never given a real chance. Bette Davis played all her Broadway hits and misses on film as no one wanted Bankhead.
