Being the only survivor at Little Big Horn, General Custard's debacle can be quite traumatic and then raised Indian into one's teens. So this bizarre story of a very old man, the supposed kid tells a lot of the story in flashback. Chief Dan George was portrayed as a real person in this film and was a hand's on favourite to win the Best Supporting Oscar but it was won by Siir John Mills as the town "idiot" in Ryan's Daughter, 1970. A worthy victory! I find the film way too long and at times downright irritating even though new thoughts and ideas come across to us at a steady pace.
