RACE which depicts the great Jesse Owens and his triumph at the 1936 Hitler/Berlin Olympics pans out as a good film though I would have preferred more of a time frame to the movie which just includes the years 1936 to 1939. It might have served the film well to dig a little deeper and include Jesse's impoverished upbringing and life struggles in Cleveland of so many years ago. Thank God we come away from the film knowing that Mr. Jesse Owens was a tremendous human being and athlete. Jesse Owens along with other super star black athletes such as tennis great Althea Gibson and baseball hall of fame Jackie Robinson earned their stripes during an era of extreme racism, all rising above the vitriolic hatred of black people to become extraordinary legends.
