This 2014 version of RoboCop may seem to miss the mark for some but compared to the original B movie version this one is a tighter, more cohesive story. It is also darker and more brooding with concise plot points. In the original version Murphy's wife and child are inexplicably absent from his new cyborg life. It was implied that they feared what he had become but that is simply conjecture as they were not there to make their case. In the newer version, this relationship with Murphy's wife and son are central to the plot and help give the tale some of its tragic feel. There's no doubt a sequel is to come as the major criminal Anthony Vallon was never captured, and the fact that Murhpy's family are close and present they will make a great target for the master criminal in the next RoboCop offering. I liked this version better than the old '80's one, if only because the story is told with more conviction.
