    The Immigrant

Marion Cotillard gives an electrifying performance in THE IMMIGRANT as she does in TWO DAYS and ONE NIGHT, both from 2014. She has won a few awards to date for both films in tandem but it doesn't seem likely she'll receive an Oscar Nomination as 5 lucky ladies seem to be shoe-ins. But one never knows with the Academy. After NOT getting a nomination 2 years ago for the best, most significant performance of the year in RUST AND BONE, The Academy might think twice of their past mistake with MARION.

In any case, The Immigrant fascinated me from the moment 2 sisters arrive on Ellis Island from Poland. There is bad news for the twosome as the film opens and matters are not too optimistic... Miss Cotillard, whether acting in her native French or in English, when the script is GOOD, hits home rum after home run, so at the top of her game you can't but keep your eyes on her. She makes it seem so effortless The films men are pretty impressive... Joaquim Phoenix and Jeremy Renner, one good, one bad! Another stunning Cotillard performance!
