"I do believe that being in love is magical and gives you a power that's sort of transcendent," Russell says. "I saw everybody trying to live some passionate dream." Writer/director David O Russel creates another movie about the redemption of people not through becoming perfect people but rather by finding the ability to love and adjust to their own imperfections. As in Silver Linings Playbook, the camera closes in on the characters. Those who seem at first flawed, phobic and caught up in the seemingly inevitable chaos of their decisions develop depth and humanity as the film unfolds. Jennifer Lawrence's character speaks for all of the characters in the movie and for all of the audience when she says: "I just wanted you to love me. I just wanted to be loved."
