Well my review is sort of against the grain on this one. First let me say that I have read the book and am an avid fan of Ayn Rand's work. From the fountainhead to the epistemology of objectivism I've read them all. So yes I concur that the political is incredibly relevant to our world today and the policies being put in place in America. Because of that I find it to be a shame that big studios haven't taken part in the great novel to put it to the big screen with a 100 million dollar budget. The story would have to be reworked a little but the intrigue and theme is just incredible in the novel. Now where I have a huge problem is in the casting. You cannot convince me that Samantha Mathis is a better Dagny than Taylor was. Taylor was fierce in her portrayal of Dagny. I personally loved it. And Grant Bowler had charisma and a look that to me signified that of a cutthroat entrepreneur and inventor. The rest I could do with. Wesly Mouch and the rest are just filler for these two. Like I said, the movie was ok and pretty much an accurate replica of the book but I couldn't stop thinking about the casting choices. Bad, bad, bad. That being said, I look forward to seeing part 3 next year and see what Atlantis looks like ;) Ayn Rand stance is that of pure, 100% unbridled capitalism. No government intervention whatsoever in the economy of private property. Period. If you still think that Obama is your great saviour please watch the entire movie and see how government intervention destroys an economy.
