Thank you to Cinemaclock who provided me the tickets to see this movie for free. But I have mixed opinions on it. Extra marks for a refreshing and different change from the norm. A good look at a dark time in American History. But marks off too. Who told Clooney he knows how to write and direct? Stick to acting George. This is the standard actor trying to stroke his ego by switching jobs. A professional director would have created a lot better movie. The director trying to be artsy screwed up several scenes. A good story yes, well written, no. Shallow character development was compounded by once they were all dressed in the same cheap suit, the same 50s hairstyle, and put on screen in a big fog of cigarette smoke in black and white. Who was who? Some of those things were necessary, but didnt help me follow. It felt like a movie released from the 50s. But if I wanted to watch a movie from the 50s, Ill rent one, or catch it on cable. And what is with the black and white thing? A cheap effect that has been done before, and was very pathetic.
