Francois Truffaut fell deeply in love for the first time while still a youngster, that first love staying with him his entire life. Being a literate sort of lad he became a journalist, receiving wide respect for his critiques of movies., He ultimately tried his hand at film scripts, then branched into film directing itself. Truffaut's life long love was of course movies. 'Day for Night' was a movie about making a movie. Truffaut cast himself as the director and employed a cast of pros who, if not initially insane, certainly were by the end of the shooting. With nervous breakdowns, prima donnas, illicit affairs, excessive imbibing, forgotten lines and tall tales as ingredients, this film is both humorous and realistic... an enjoyable evening at the theatre.
