You know this movie will not win any awards. However, it's not due to the bad acting of any of the cast members. If fact, all of them did a fairly good job. All of them portrayed what the life of a stripper is most likely like when it comes down to it. I wouldn't be surprised at all. When you compare lap dance to other stripper movies like Striptease or Showgirls, Lap Dance isn't as over the top, it's much more down to earth and grounded in reality. It tries to convey the real life problems that lead some women into the industry, and the real life problems that occur once they get there. It's probably the most true-to-life movie of all 3. So while this movie may not entertain as much, it creates a sense of empathy and understanding for what happens to these women once they get into the game. I'm happy that the directors took the approach they did as I suspect they accomplished exactly what they set out to achieve.
