Well Anne Dorval delivered an extraordinary performance. She can without a doubt win the best actress in a foreign movie oscar in my book. The movie itself has some peculiarities. First Xavier interestingly chose to go for a narrow film format deviating from the standard 16:9. Nevertheless, the best part of this film are the characters so well defined and thought out and acted beautifully on all parts. The movie may be a tad long but it makes up for it by an expertly designed ending and beautiful soundtrack. That last point deserves extra attention as the soundtrack blends in well hits from the 80s, 90s and today. Lana Del Rey Outro was of particularly good taste. Great movie, crafted by extremely talented hands.
