One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest

There are those who become so ensconced in their own infallibility that contradictory evidence is ignored, and their learning stops. When this happens to a person in an authoritative position, you may be dealing with a control freak. Nurse Mildred Rached (Louise Fletcher) was just such a person. Free-spirited Randle Patrick McMurphy (Jack Nicholson) was temporarily placed in her care, and serious personality clashes were on the horizon. Taking place almost entirely within the walls of a real mental health hospital, the film was a frightening endictment of the treatment one might receive there. Five Academy Awards, nine total nominations, and one of the finest American films to ever hit the screen.
