    Atlas Shrugged: Part III

The worst part of this movie is seeing such a legendary piece of work being demolished by a vision that was not worth its budget. You hear about Ayn Rand all the time in media. Whether it's in Mad Men, or some other capitalist entrepreneur being presented, Ayn Rand is the hero of pure, free-market capitalism. She mentored the ex-Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan and a large many entrepreneurs and still does today. To take a work from the 60's and 70's and translate them to today, they would have to be adapted to today's culture & technology. To do otherwise would be to betray the vision that led to the work in the first place. The Fountainhead is probably a better fit for today's culture as Architecture hasn't changed much. On top of it, to separate the work into 3 two hour movies with different actors playing their role each time is kind of ludicrous. This movie was brought out and created to cherish the ideals it contains by people I assume that care about them. In order to do so, they would have had to work on this as a profitable venture and adapted it to the modern world where it could really have some chance to turn a good profit. At this point, it's almost like a laughing stock of an idealistic venture with no real chance of being successful. Ironic that someone who prided herself as the worshiper of competence and human brilliance would have her work done by such incompetence and lack of vision. I may be overly harsh as the producers and director did try to maintain the integrity of the original work but with such little imagination and creativity they almost tried to do it verbatim. You can tell I am disappointed & that I did love the original books. If you do watch the movie, realize that this work was created in 1957 at a time when Trains where the best means to transport goods across large distances. At a time when the setting for this story was relevant. 60 years have passed (almost) Listen to the message and see how it applies to the world today. Even better, read the book or the fountainhead. You'll get it!
