No, it's not the most "original" story (been done, been seen, all many times). but how can you argue with something so "classic"? The acting is all more than adequate, it's quite good. I doubt there will be any Oscars for the actors, which is a shame, as they really did a wonderful job... except it wasn't in some talky esotheric pseudo-drama, which is what too often takes the Oscar. And of course, the effects are astounding... you so quickly forget that you are watching effects... very much like Titanic. About half an hour into Avatar, all I could think to myself was "how on earth can I watch a 2-D movie after this?".
