To anyone who said it was amazing, they are clearly not going out to see enough movies. That said, it certainly wasn't as bad as I expected. The plot was decent, even somewhat unpredictable at times. The acting was not the best but certainly not the worst either. I guess the movie is simply a mish-mash of things you've already seen a thousand times put together unoriginally. Either way, you could do better but you could do worse. I guess that's how to sum up this kind of movie.

Movies are like music, certain aspects appeal to different audiences. Unfortunately the dry reality of the inner city doesn’t appeal to you. I have seen many movies, and I recommend this to all who enjoy dramas. What makes a good movie? The cast, and this is a stellar collection. 8/10.
Hmm I disagree. It isn't a matter of taste. I've loved inner city movies of all genres. Think Boyz In the Hood as one of the best. Blood in Blood Out, it is certainly an interesting genre. I recently saw Precious which may not fit exactly into this violence/crime genre but certainly fits into what can happen growing up in poverty in Brooklyn. What I dislike about the movie is the compromise that was made. Hire A-list actors, put them together into an attempt at a blockbuster film all the while sacrificing some of the authenticity that could have poured out of this movie. It's the compromise I dislike. Compromise in the script and in some of the choices made. That being said, I did say it wasn't the best and wasn't the worst. The 5 rating referred to So so, woudl watch it if I didn't pay which is what I think. Paying 12-15$ for this movie isn't justified. Grab it on DVD.
